Would you prefer (if you had a choice) to work for a man or a woman and why?

I don't ordinarily make blanket statements like this but, a woman. Women tend to enjoy working with and listening to empoyees rather than ruleing over employees.

I'd prefer a woman boss. Most of mine have been great to work for. I'm more comfortable working for a woman than a man.

it really doesn't matter to me, but I could probably relate and talk a bit more freely with a woman boss, but all my bosses have been men and i haven't had any bad experiences or anything, so there both coool w/ me

I can't answer whether I'd prefer a woman or man. It all depends on the individual. I've worked for women who were totally awesome, maternal, patient, encourgaing, supporting, etc. I've also worked for women who were ruthless, power-hungry, and willing to put off all the work on her employees and take all the credit for it, but become a total bitch when employees made mistakes. This is still a man's world, and women sometimes become crazy trying to copete with that. That can make a woman very difficult to deal with. I've worked for men that were laid back, patient, understanding, and just great people in general. But, I've also run across men who were egotistical and sexist. Some men out there still believe that women are creatures of luxury, completely unable to think on their own. So, either sex can be great to work for. But, on the other hand, both can be a real pain.

My boss is a guy - an old guy - and he's extremely old-fashioned and sexist. But as long as he isn't sexist or homophobic to my face I guess I can live with him.
To be honest I don't care whether my boss is male or female as long as he/she treats me with respect and doesn't order me around. I hate being ordered around - I can usually take orders from another woman but I don't like having a man tell me what to do. |
