Hi, my name is Bob and I'm new to this board. I can't remember what year I
discovered Dark Shadows, but it was during the 1897 story line. I was in 4th grade and used to run home to watch it at 4pm. I was around 11, 12 or so. Today, I'm 48 and still a fan. I was lucky to have had the chance to meet two DS stars in the mid 80s. I was living in Burbank, California and one afternoon I was at the mall where I bought a book on John Wayne. As I was leaving I saw David Selby walking toward a studio bus with a group of people who turned out to be members of the cast of "Falcon Crest". They had been filming at Burbank City Hall. I walked up to Mr. Selby and told him that I was a fan and asked for his autograph. Since the only thing I had for him to sign was the Wayne biography, thats what I handed him. He started to just sign his name. I told him that I really liked the Saturday Afternoon Kid Special he had done in the 70s where he played Abe Lincoln, but I couldn't remember the name of it. He started talking to me about it as he opened the book back up and signed "Nice To Have Met You". He was always my favorite DS actor and Quentin my favorite character. Several years later I was in a bar in Hollywood called Barney's Beanery. It was around midnight when I headed for the door when I saw Chris Pemnock sitting at the bar with a friend. I asked for an autograph and we talked for a few minutes. Both Selby and Pennick were very nice and took the time to talk to me and sign their names. At the time Chris was working on another soap. Anyway, I just wanted to share these memories. Take care Bob |

It's great to hear stories of stars who are actually nice to their fans! I wouldn't have expected David Selby to be nice, because of the character he played so well on Falcon Crest...
