here is something that i find frustrating

1. i get tons of emails a day, often over 75, and about 10 lists a day (OFTEN THE SAME PERSON SENDING ME THE SAME LIST He sent 2 days ago)

2. i work a full time job and have a wife and 3 children, not to mention a ton of pets

3. there is no rule that says i HAVE to reply to each and every email i get

4. i TRY to reply to as many emails as i am able

5. if i do not reply, that is usually a good indication that i am not interested in a swap---- i have reached a point where i no longer swap for just anything

SOME TRADERS seem to think, that if they want to swap the other person OWES THEM a trade----

i reply and say NO THANK YOU, NOTHING I CAN USE--- and they want to ARGUE WITH ME--- saying "BUT, I HAVE THIS AND U DONT HAVE IT--- why dont u take it??" if i dont want it, i dont want it--- or they say "WELL I HAVE 15000 discs, u cant find 10 so we can trade?"

and some people send me a list where i alleady have EVERY ITEM ON IT ON MY LIST---- do they even look first???

or others i TRY to trade--- maybe they have 5 discs i want--- so i say, IM INTERESTED in these 5---- and they reply and say "I WANT THESE 20, pick out 15 more!" and then i just shake my head

so, im not trying to be rude, but sometimes i am busy and dont reply--- nothing personal but that is how it works out

and when people post saying

"LAMONT WONT REPLY TO ME ABOUT A TRADE" it makes the other party look silly

i mean, if i call a girl and leave her 5 messages asking her out, and she doesnt reply--- i dont tell all my friends how she wont go out with me!!!!

again, no offense and nothing personal, but sometimes i am real busy and dont always have a perfect record with email replies

Don't get me wrong, I certainly agree Lamont, no one owes anyone a trade. However, for me personally when I get lists and find nothing on them (which I do daily) I send them a reply e-mail "I'm sorry, there's nothing I'm interested in at this time" In the 25+ years I've been trading I've always considered it common courtesy and proper trading etiquette. (Since I have a busy life as well I even have an e-mail template made up and only have to hit reply

But anyways that's just me.

My hate mail section of my list is good for a laugh when it comes to dealing with traders

Anyways got your private e-mail, thanks for responding

Now back to your regularly scheduled....typing.

Or sometimes it is the way to get a person never to consider trading with you. If I don't get a response, I figure they either don't have the time or can't find anything they want on my list. I would never consider posting something like "why won't you answer me". If someone did that to me, I'd never consider trading. Who wants to deal with someone like that?

If you email to much, you may get some answers you don't want, not the answer you want. There are times when silence says more then the printed word. Unfortunately some folks just don't take no for a answer but keep up with "there must be something you want", or it's not on your list", or " I really wanted that" One way to awaid that is not to respond. If someone asks for my list, besides sending it I say "only interested in series from the 50's and 60's, no retails and no cartoons please." Does that stop them from sending stuff from the 90's, loaded with cartoons and retails?, absouletly not. They then get offended because they promised it to their folks or grandparents, and there must be something I could use.

Na, I personally think a "no" is better than no answer at all. I don't get hurt and I don't take it personally (if nothing else at least I know the e-mail got to them)

In my "day job" we legally have to keep the job open until the client gives a "yes" or "no" Currently I have about 14 jobs still open after a year because a client perferrs to play games and refuses to give us an answer.

I do usually try to let someone know, if I'm not interested in a trade. Then they know I've actually received the email and I do think it's polite to do so.

UNLESS...they go against my clearly stated TOS. IE, if someone offers to buy something from me, I do not waste the 5 seconds to reply. Funny, how some people can scour my list & find about 20 things they want and yet don't seem to notice the bold, red print at the top that clearly states I don't sell or trade for blanks.

And if someone continues to pester me by offering to buy, trade for blanks or offer me things I don't want, they go on my IGNORE list.

If, after the initial email your not interested, it's always better to have the courtesy to simply reply to someone that your not interested, then to not reply at all...

I also think that it's nice to let a trader know what type of things you are looking for after you tell them you saw nothing on their list. I try and tell someone who has nothing I want that I'm currrently looking for this and that and then they will know when to email me again once they come across something I was looking for

Exactly, good point. (I have the link to my want list in my form e-mail) There's been 2 cases where I gave them the link, and there were a couple pretty rare shows on my want list they remembered seeing on another list, so we did the trade.

well i will say this

Lamonts new rules----

1. if u send me a list with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON IT that is NOT on my list i wont reply---- i mean, take 5 seconds to look, why send me a list of things that i allready have???? if u dont have anything i can use, that is fine, but dont make me look all through a list of nothing

2. anyone who makes smart alleck comments about how Lamont wont trade with them--- then Lamont wont--- those type statements will now be "self fulfilling prophecies"--- nothing personal, but when someone bitches and moans about how i wont trade with them or wont reply--- my thinking is

3. if u need to reach me do this, send an email or PM and give me some time to get back to you, please do not FWD me the same email or list over and over, as i tend to just hit DELETE when i see that

4. KEEP IN MIND, when people make these "WHERE ARE YOU AND WHY WONT U ANSWER ME POSTS" other traders often read it and assume u must be difficult and wont want to swap either

5. please keep in mind, i do tons of swaps and am really busy, so dont get offended so easilly
