1)You remember them
2)You're talking about them.

That's considered a success today. Seems to be a recent trend - dumb and annoying, but memorable and talk-worthy.

It just takes too much effort - from THEIR point of view - to come up with something that is both memorable and discussion-worthy, yet isn't annoying.
