Successful Dating Elements? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Do you think that becoming friends with someone you'd like to date will make for a more successful dating experience instead of just meeting someone and dating them? Why? Why not? Is it really helpful to get to know a person first before actually dating them? Is it truly necessary, or will getting know the person a little more ruin the chances even more? Please base them on your personal experiences and/or what you have seen.

I was friends with my husband for months before we started to date, then years down the line we got married.

But I think it depends on the two people in order to make it a successful relationship. You can know a person for 10 years and start to date, then and the relationship can turn to crap. And you can also know a person for 10 days and that could be the person you end up marrying and be with that person for 60 yrs.

Here in Philly, you have to move FAST if you meet someone you like because if you don't you will MISS OUT-lol That goes for men and women-lol There is no such thing as being Friends with someone for a long period of time

if you can't be friends with someone, you can't have a relationship with them. it just wouldn't function.

yes, you should be friends with them first. dating someone without really knowing what kind of person they are is pretty ridiculous.

Maybe she just had more things in common with the other guy. I think you should become friends first, that's how you really get to know a person. Your mate should be your bestfriend. Not just a roommate or a f**k buddy, You can get that anywhere.

Well met the last week of May and it took me too long to tell her I wanted to be her boyfriend. It had got to be june 27th and I still had not told her. So that COOL DUDE moved faster and that's why I lost the opportunity

well if you want to make it into a race to get the girl before other guys do and skip the part about knowing her first, then that is your prerogative.

I think that's everywhere. If you like someone you have to let them know, can't be shy about it.

I know, my shyness is so onvious if I'm attracted to her. The only thing I kept saying was-"I'm really interested in getting to know you better"-lol I think it' harder in BIG cities like Dallas, Philly, NY, Chicago, and LA

Well you'll never get a girl if you can't muster up the courage to tell her that you want to be with her. That's all the reason why you should be friends with someone first and then you'll be comfortable enough around them to tell them how you feel.

I think you should be friends first. And by friends I mean just simply talking to each other, holding a conversation, finding you have common interests, etc. and then try dating. You don't need to be friends for a long time either-Anthony and I had only been talking for about three weeks before we started dating but I still would have considered us friends at that point.
