Cool pics.
According to the Brady Bunch Trivia page on the IMDB, the owners of the house put the iron gates up because they've had some trouble with trespassers. |

Some really intresting pictures there, a few diffrent angles I've never seen. The owners did have to put up a fence because although they don't mind people taking pictures, often tourists would wander up on the lawn and peek through the windows hoping to see the Brady living room. Of course they were pretty much let-down. Also, the "second floor" window in the front is missing. In the show, they had to hang a fake window on the front of the house for the second floor effect, because in reality, there really was no second floor in that specific house.

I've always wondered why they didn't pick a house that better matched the floor plan. Is there some significance to that house?

Yeah, and I guess that happens with a lot of TV Homes (the floor plans don't match the exterior shots)...
I guess that Sherwood or Lloyd must have just picked some neighborhood that they felt fit the Bradys, and drove around looking for a nice house to use, and picked that one... Wonder which one comes first, do they pick a house for the exterior shots first, or do they build the set? I guess the easiest way is to pick a house/neighborhood you like, then build the set they way you want the inside to look, and hope no one notices that they don't match. I didn't watch the show during Season 1 of it's original run, I'm pretty sure I started watching sometime in season 2... I was hooked on the show once I did start watching it, and then caught what I missed when it went into syndication... to be honest, I'm not sure when the discussions started about the exterior not matching the floor plan... I don't know that that ever came up when the show originally aired... I don't think we noticed stuff like that... Watching a new show today, yeah, I'd notice something like that in a minute...but back then, we weren't concerned with 'bloopers' like that...we just watched the show... I think it was after the show went to syndication that people started noticing and talking about all of the inconsistencies. Sherwood and Lloyd must have REALLY liked that house, since they even went to the trouble of adding a fake window to the one-story home to make it look like it was two stories. |

Did they ever show an exterior of the Brady's house in the pilot? I know they showed Carol (Martin?) Brady's parents house. But in the Brady house, Bobby's room was different as so was the kitchen. I wonder if this house matched the pilot episode house.

In watching the "Gidget" series on DVD, I noticed that the home they used in the pilot episode was not the same one that Gidget and her Dad lived in during the rest of the series. I guess sometimes, since pilots are often shot months, or even a year or more, before the series is picked up and episodes begin filming, maybe it's not totally unusual for a set to be different in the pilot than in the subsequent series' regular episodes. I don't have that DVD, maybe someone who does can clarify. |
