Does anyone remember Crime Stoppers 800? It was a half-hour TV show that ran in syndication from 1989 to 1991. The primary host was Edwin Hart, who shared his hosting duties actual cops (Det. Larry Gross and Officer Marete Edillo). It was an America's Most Wanted clone, which gave an 800 number for viewers to call if they had information that would help solve a case. But in contrast to AMW, Crime Stoppers 800 offered possible rewards.
Admittedly, the show looked cheap, especially the dramatizations. But in retrospect, I think Crime Stoppers 800 had good potential, and could have lasted a long time (just like how AMW and Unsolved Mysteries eventually would). Unfortunately however, that was not to be. The audiences just weren't there for the long haul.
