Does anyone remember this short-lived Disney cartoon? I had no idea that when it first came out it competed against fellow Disney cartoon The Gummi Bears in the same timeslot.

That's correct. In fact, THE WUZZLES debuted on the same exact date--
Sept. 14, 1985--as Disney's GUMMI BEARS (as well as the same time slot). But GUMMI BEARS lasted three years longer. THE WUZZLES did have an interesting cast of voices, including two LAUGH-IN alumni (Henry Gibson and Jo Anne Worley). It was narrated by veteran humorist Stan Freberg. The Wuzzles did accomplish one thing the Gummi Bears never did: they appeared in Gladstone's comic book WALT DISNEY'S COMICS & STORIES. |
