Default When Jenny and Lionel separated I was really dissappointed...

I guess I had come to like them as a couple and just like in real life, it bothered me to see them come to the end of their marriage the way it did. What are your feelings?

Did they actually get divorced? I never saw those episodes during the last season when they guest starred.

In other words, what was the purpose of having these characters come back and divorce?

I didn't like it at all.

Yeah, I was watching those episodes last night, and I hated it. I wish they would've stayed together.

It was posted on here previously. Berlinda Tolbert wanted to continue making occasional appearances and Mike Evans didn't so to facilitate this they had the two characters file for divorce although they never said exactly what the grounds were. Their parents thought that their big news was that Jenny was pregnant and when they told Louise the truth in the hallway Louise almost passed out! Three years is a long time for a married couple to be apart and they had had problems before in the Separation episodes in 1981 so one can speculate as to what really went down. I'm kind of glad the show ended 3 episodes after this as it would have been odd seeing Jenny and Jessica and knowing that Lionel was never going to be in the picture again.

Thank you for that.

Why not just bring back the second Lionel?

I kind of liked it. I never really saw the connection between Lionel and Jenny. Besides, it certainly was something refreshing to see on a sitcom. Usually couple are always happily married.
