Lightbulb One thing (among many) I love about Benson...

I thought it was very smart to not even go near the area where Marcy used to sit (her desk, etc.) outside the Governor's office after she left the show - this show was always smart enough to 'grow up' when it needed to and (until maybe certain portions of seasons 6 and 7) kept itself from getting 'old'. Denise replacing Marcy was/is a PERFECT example. And then the show shifted complete focus to Benson's new office and never went back, as so many other shows do. I think I caught that when I first saw the show as a kid, and now I appreciate it even more. Anyone else ever notice that?

Now that you mention it, I suppose you're right (although I never really thought about it in those terms). What I always loved about the show (and I feel this is THE strong point of the show besides the humor, obviously) is despite the arguing and bickering between certain characters, they put all that stuff aside when it really matters. For example, Benson should really hate Clayton but at times he shows compassion for him anyway (see "The Endicott Dynasty" and "Flight of the Dodo"). Clayton shows his compassionate side as well in "All Shook Up" when he fears Benson is dead after an earthquake/tremor. There's a lot of strife but there's also a lot of deeper understanding and connection that you can only appreciate if you watch the show long enough to really take notice of this.

Fantastic show; very underappreciated and underrated.

I know this an old thread but rather than start a new one with a similar observation, I figured I'd just resurrect this one.

You mentioned them never showing the hallway where Marcy's desk was after she left the show. Well, did you also notice they changed the area just outside the Governor's office after she left? If the door was open, you didn't see the couch and/or a wide open area out there like you normally would; instead, you saw a wall about a few feet in front of his door. It was like they built a small hallway outside the Governor's office. Kind of strange.

Hmm, wow, I hadn't seen that either, so will check the outside of the Gov's office. Actually I'm always looking at the pictures on the walls, and wonder if they are real people (like the presidents) or pesky props. Since I'm a history major, I am intrigued by the portraits and have even named a few.

One of my faves is in the Mansion's public sitting area: the gentleman holding his glasses in his hand. This one I call "Paul Revere," b/c it reminds me of COpley's painting of PR -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:J...aul_Revere.jpg

I could never figure out why Marcy never had her own office in that HUGE house!! Did Taylor even have an office!?
