I'm on Season 4 the "Bad Moon Rising" episode where Debra has PMS, Ray honestly tries to help by buying her somethng at the drug store. She gets all bent out of shape over it, but in all honesty, I have no idea why she reacted that way. Ray did nothing wrong - he tried to help her and she acts as if he mortally offended her. PMS is a common pproblem, and Debra denying that he had it seemed a bit odd (and out of character). Just my opinion.

Actually, I was referring to her getting mad at Ray for buying her the pills as being mean - not her hormones (which she has no controll over).

I think that she over reacts about a lot of things. I would have just laughed. LOL.

![]() Those pills may work for some women and some symptoms, but it does nothing for the BITCHINESS that comes when the hormones take over. Men have this idea that pills, medication can cure EVERYTHING. It doesn't. You think women want to feel bitchy, irritable and so forth? We don't, it comes with the territory...mood swings, etc. What it is, is that men are "fixers" they have been taught that men can and should fix things. So of course when a woman is not feeling good, especially that time of the month, and she is complaining or the man feels her "moodiness" then it's automatic he wants to "fix" the problem. I recall in my first year dating my boyfriend, we went to a festival and I began not to feel good. Of course, it was that time of the month. He felt what I was going through...so when we got to his home, he had me lay down, gave me a blanket, brought me a cold cloth for my head and brought me medicine for my PAIN. He knew the moodiness comes with the territory, so he didn't even go there. His overall ATTENTION and his HUG is what meant more to me and made me feel at ease. Which is what Debra was looking for. Just a little hug and tenderness. No words, just something simple like a hug to say, I love you and I am sorry for what you are going through. PILLS DON'T DO THAT.

I do see the point - Ray was coming off like "here's a pill to take away your moodiness" so I guess that's what Debra was angry with - that he didn't care about anything else - just how it (her moodiness) was effecting him, and not what she was going through during "that time of the month." I listened to the commendtary for that show on the DVD, and Patty was doing it with Ray and the series creator. She won an emmy for that episode. |

You got it. Ray was thinking of how her moodiness was AFFECTING HIM...not what she must be going through. Believe me, we women don't want to feel that way, but it does overtake our bodies and eventually how we feel. Debra was wanting a hug, no words, no meds, just a hug. That episode was EXCELLENT. It clearly summed up how we feel and how some men deal with it. And then on top of that, Debra had three kids, a house, a husband and those nagging in-laws to deal with...God Bless her! I have three kids, a house, two businesses and a man to deal with...that time of the month can really be A PAIN!!!

I felt bad for Ray in this episode, seriously, I have some sort of emotional bond with Ray Barone that makes me feel the pain he goes through, I think I have gray hair because of this show.....

I'm surprised that Debra isn't meaner than she is. She's living in a sea of dysfunction and she's the only normal adult person in that family.
