Default Crocodile Hunter Death to Be Broadcast

HOLLYWOOD - The footage of late Australian naturalist Steve Irwin being killed by a stingray could be shown on TV.
Charismatic Irwin, dubbed the Crocodile Hunter after his internationally acclaimed TV show, died yesterday while diving on Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

Irwin was filming for a new documentary when he lost his life, and his cameraman shot the moment when the stingray's barbed tail stabbed the legendary conservationist through the heart.

The tapes are currently being held by Queensland police--but Irwin's family is determined to respect his last wishes and allow the harrowing footage to be broadcast.

Irwin once insisted, "My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip.

"Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me."

An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "This is exactly what Steve would have wanted. He knew the dangers and was totally up for the cameras to get everything."

I wonder who will be the first to show it. I seen a special on him last night on Fox News. I bet it will be them.

well i just dont really understand

if my wife was killed this way, i dont want it being played over and over on tv

but if the family is ok with it, and if it was his wish---- then i guess it should be played

The report I saw just a few minutes ago said that this tape has been turned over to the police. And will probably not be seen by many. We'll see. I can't believe his family actually want it aired.

If they do broadcast it, i wont be searching for it on the internet. Why would somebody want to watch someone die?

That's just very rude and disrespectful to me.

It may be rude and disrespectful to some. However, I believe that it is what Steve Irwin would have wanted. He wanted the camera to roll at all times. Even when he was seriously injured he never cut the footage. It was just the type of person he was. Many times he had said that if he was ever injured or killed it wasn't the animals fault. They were just doing what came naturally.

I can't say that I would want to watch it. It is just too hard to think about, let alone watch. But he would have wanted it that way....

I guess it's a personal decision, but I could never watch it. I don't think I could watch it if it was my own husband. I couldn't handle it.

Great - I am sure someday, that is exactly what the mom wants to worry about her daughter seeing.

See daddy die.

Not appropriate at all

The mom was the one to make the decision.

If it's fine w/ the family, then it's fine by me. As long as the family is making the decision.

John Stainton, Irwin's longtime friend and producer, had other things in mind. On Larry King Live tonight, he stated that he hopes that the tapes are destroyed once the police have completed their investigation.

I don't think any decision has been made at all. I believe at this point it is alot of speculation. How do we know what Teri has decided??? Nobody has heard from her publically and I doubt no one will for several weeks.

I've heard talk of it being aired, but thats all it is at this point, talk.

The footage would be far too gruesome for me to watch, but I realize there is a macabre fascination with death. If his family agrees to allow the footage to be shown, that certainly is their right, I just don't think I could bring myself to watch Steve's final moments...

Like I said, if the family is the one to make the decision, it's fine by me.

Personally, I wouldn't want it aired. Seems disrespectful. But like someone else said, whatever floats their boat.
