Default Why Doesn't Maude Do Well In Syndication?

I never got why. Anyone know? I never saw Maude in syndication. I just saw about 20 eps or so that my Aunt had on tape, from years ago. The show is very good, too.

Because people would rather watch the same airhead comedies that are shown over and over by stations like TV Land who never hardly changes their schedule.

Luckily I was able see Maude a lot in syndication during the 80's. I never realized that many stations never picked it up. I was really surprised to find out that many people aren't familar with this show. I know a lot of Golden Girls fans don't even like it.

In your opinion, what makes this a very good show? Just Curious. I finally seen several eps of the show in 2004 and 2005 and I gave the show overall a C. It's watchable but not many Laugh out Loud Moments.

I think it's more of the rarity than quality. I mean a lot of the shows in reruns I don't think are really better or worse than Maude. I don't understand how the show was so huge, but it is never given a proper chance in reruns to obtain a new fanbase. It is yanked because channels are scared of the "sponsors" for showing "low-rated" shows.

As for people saying Maude was a political show I don't get it. The episodes I taped from On Demand weren't all political so I don't know what people are yapping about. I do vaguely remember her running for Congress, but other than that what was so constantly political about the show that killed it in syndication?

I just think a lot of people didn't like a dominating and in your face female head character of a show.

I would watch this show anytime over a lot of others, but I guess I'm saying that because I'm a Bea Arthur fan. I enjoy her sarcastic style of humor, and for me that makes the show enjoyable and good over a lot of other programs. I can see why a lot of people don't like it. Plus you get 1980s scream queen Adrienne Barbeau in the series too.

Another reason could be there wasn't a lot of FUN Episode Story Lines. I didn't notice a lot from the 50 eps I watched

I think Maude is a fun show, although I didn't care much for the charity show episode or the one at the Vermont train station when Arthur and Viv get married.

I really wish I had the one when they try to get Viv's brooch off the dead lady at the funeral home.

What do the young know? Their opinions don't count.

I don't know. Maybe, alot of people don't like Bea Arthur, maybe they think it's too political. Personally, I love the show even though my political views are the opposite of Bea Arthur's and her Maude Findlay character.

I agree with you Solomon. There aren't alot of "LOL" episodes of Maude. You know, I wonder how successful the show would have been as a Comedy-Drama.

There were some things that had me laughing like-"God Will get you for that" But I will never forget the episode when Maude and walter stayed in there bedroom for the entire episode and I just couldn;t believe they would produce a episode like that

Yes, they were getting ready to the party and Walter didn't want to go. I forgot about that one. I still like the TAMU episodes.

Yeah, that was one of my least favorites. Also the episode where they are in the hotel room the entire time. I believe she went with him to some convention and he won an award.

Because it's not like other sitcoms, the humor doesn't appeal to everyone and can be sort of dated. From what I saw of the show, I really liked it.
