What is going on? It is incredibly slow to right all of a sudden. We had a lot of rain yesterday so while I was in the middle of burning a disk the power went out, now it won't read or right fast than 1.7X anyway of fixing it back to the way it was? It is taking a half hour just to burn one disk. I have a huge trade to finish and It will take me forever if I can't fix this problem. Please help

I have no idea what is going on, but my LG burners do that sometimes as well. When they do, I correct it thus:
1. unplug burner from computer 2. plug in another (old, basically useless) burner 3. decrypt a disc (only have to do this for a few seconds, not a whole disc) 4. unplug old, useless burner 5. replug original burner You must shut down your computer before unplugging your drives. If you don't have 2 drives, so far as I'm aware, you're screwed. Letting it sit for a couple of days will not help. Simply unplugging and replugging will not help. Somehow, re-attaching after another drive has been used, clears the problem. At least temporarily. I find that once it happens, it usually happens again fairly quickly afterwards (if I'm using it lots). But after that, I'm good for a couple of months. |

I would suggest rebooting and cutting the power source also, but you might want to run your spyware and anti-virus programs too! You would be surprised what those little devils can do.

check the device manager, make sure it isan't operating in PIO mode, when the power went out it probably corrupted part of the software or driver.
you may want to try completely uninstalling the driver, for the drive AND the IDE controller (assuming its an internal drive), and then reinstalling it (Windows will take care of the IDE driver, you'll probably want to have the drive's software handy though, look for an upgraded driver on the manufacturer's website) |

Well after realizing I don't know what I was doing I just asked my father for help. It is curently working, but not to the fullest extent, it is having problems reading RW disks. Since it is still under warranty we are sending it back out.
