Talking Season 5 Release

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and have been reading a few of your posts over the past few days. Forgive me if this has been mentioned before but here's a thought (or hope) for the season 5 release.

I've read all of the posts that complain about the series ending. It was so disappointing to all of us fans. That has sparked a wish for a reunion movie; the thought being that we all want to erase the terrible ending that we got and replace it with a happier, more fulfilling ending that we all know we should have gotten.

Add this piece: now we hear that we are getting season 4 on DVD. What about poor measly season 5??? All of us are questioning 'how could they release season 5 by itself? What a pathetic season, who's going to buy just season 5? There better be some amazing extras: gag reels, interviews, etc...'

Now here's my thought: Given the history of Moonlighting being such a groundbreaking show, always pushing the envelope, etc......My thought was this: what if they are planning to have season 5 along with our long hoped for "reunion movie" as a "reunion episode/finale". If all parties are in agreement, this would allow the fans to get what they want, wouldn't involve long production time/costs, etc..., minimal commitment of time from BW & CS, and how much more groundbreaking could you get???? Having a new episode included on a DVD almost 20 years after the show ended? Not to toot my own horn, but I think that would be a brilliant move on their part! What do you all think?

Your lips to God's ears... but I'm not holding my breath. I think there may actually be someone at Lions Gate who is either clueless enough or deluded enough to think Season 5 will sell by itself just like the others did. I'm as big a fan as the next guy, but without something SERIOUS to draw me, I will be purchasing my final DVD set in 11 days.

I will definitely buy season 5 if it comes out because I like season 5 more than season 4.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the reunion stuff that Cybill/Bruce has recently talked about is actually something that will be put on the season 5 DVD release?

Season 5 DVDs will be bought by the majority of Moonlighting fans, don't you think? I know I will be buying at least 2 sets if they are released.

I know I will buy season 5 if and when it's released! I love it (well, parts of it). Most of the episodes are still way better than most shows I've seen on tv even if it doesn't feel like tha classical Moonlighting. Then, if they wanna sell 5 s dvd's to other than the most devoted fans it would be a very smart move to put an alternate ending to it. I'm still hoping!!!

Even though i dispise the ending i will buy the season 5 dvd set if and when it is released because i need to have a full complete set either way of my favorite show of all time. And yes an alternate ending to LE would be a dream come true but doubt it would ever happen. It 's nice to dream about it though.

I really loved 'A Womb With A View.'

For the end, though, I'll require antibiotics.

The last couple of episodes give most of us the heebeegeebees.
There are one or two scenes that are tolerable for me, but most of them are unwatchable IMO. I will skip to one or two of them between Maddie and David in Eine Kleine. Of course, the dreaded A***e (I also hate the Demi scene) will not be viewed by me.
Of course, there is always the final collage.

Now, when I do get my season 5 DVDs, I will immediately go and view In 'n Outlaws. That will be the first episode I watch, and then the first half of A Womb With A View.

That goes for me too!
I would put the first 8 or 9 episodes of season 5 up on a near par with the first two seasons ( not forgetting that little tipbit in In `n` Outlaws )
But i`m afraid it`s all down hill from then onwards.
Can`t stand A***e ,never did and never will.
Never did understand the reason and the need for having Demi in that opening shot of When Girls Collide, i must admit this is one episode that i never ( well very very rarely ) watch!.
But having said all that i will be one of the first in line to buy it ( with or without any reunion episode).

I understand that a lot of actors wanted to be on ML , but I can't understand what Demi was doing there?!?! I forced myself to watch it recently and had to hide under a pillow.. I was so embarrased when I saw those looks when they're waiting for the elevator. Awkward.

I agree that the first 8 eps (+In n Outlaws-scene, of course) are just as amusing to watch as the first seasons! Just in a slightly different way.

omg, i hated that demi shot too. and just thinking about A***E makes me cringe. But, yeah, the first half of season 5 was okay. I like some of those episodes and can't wait for them on dvd. I even kind of liked Eine Kleine...there still seemed to be hope. argh.

I still don't know why they had to write the plotlines they did in most of the last two years. They could have found some other way to give somebody time to leave the set in the fourth year. You can write anything you want into the story. Many other excuses could have been found in the plot to make room for somebody to be gone for a while. It doesn't have to be a pregnancy, capped off by a miscarriage. How hateful for the fans to have to sit through that.

Look at '24,' they can write it so that every episode supposedly takes up an hour in story time. A writer can do anything they want! The ML writers could have just written scripts that present the character as being gone for two weeks or something, meanwhile it's really taking up four months in real-world time, so the actors get to do whatever they needed to do in their lives.

The only reason I'll be buying the last two years of the show is that, well, I have to. Pull for the team, you know. But until we either get a sequel or somebody goes on national television to apologize, I say they have a lot to answer for and I will not forgive them. Ugh.

I know this is a little bit older of a thread, but I thought I would put my two cents in as they say.
I will definately buy Season Five as I consider myself a huge fan of this series. I watched it all for the first time when it all aired in the eighties. I have all the other four dvd sets and will have to have the fifth to complete my set!!! I don't know though if I will be able to actual watch most of the eps of season five, but it will be sitting right next to the other four seasons on the cabinet!!
Come to think of it, my others are getting so worn that if they put all five seasons in a set, I might have to buy that too he he

xoxo
