It's obvious, she went out to get more drugs. She needed a fix.

JJ would have noticed her out there when he looked out the window if she had killed herself.

Exactly. That's what I said before. Besides, the balcony extended all the way to where she jumped out the window to the balcony and went down the stairs to the streets. If the writers wanted us to think she had died, they would have had J.J. look out the window, scream out her name and shown him running out of the room...that didn't occur, so in their way, they told us she ran off.

I got the impression that it was a one-level motel, so it would have been just climbing out the window. But I could be wrong.

It was a two-level motel and you can see right outside the door the railing.

I voted for killing herself. Now keep in mind that my vote is based on what I thought from when I was a kid back in the mid 80's. Certain eps scared me. This was one. As a child, I thought that she jumped out of the window to die. It was a bit traumatizing for me as a child. When an ep has a rating of "PG" parents please listen. LOL.

I'd say she climbed out the window to score more drugs.

I was around seven back then and it was a quiet atmoshere on the ep and it gave me chills especially when I got a little jumpy when Debbie Allen was wrapping the band around her arm. I am aware the PG system not being in effect back then. I am talking about now for any kid that watches or may be sensitive to certain material on TV. I realize now that I was. In 1997, the rating system went into effect. I thought that was a great thing to do.

You know, Ms Irene it does not bother me as much now but I think that I think back to when I was a kid. Plus Debbie Allen was really good. Irene, you do have a good memory. LOL. Up until twelve years of age, I thought it was a rule to have someone die in the show. I was waiting for someone to be knocked off on "The Cosby Show".

I agree, that episode was very powerful, very strong. I mean, I was like "What is that thing she is putting around her arm?"...growing up in a middle class family with t.v. being the only source of learning abt drugs, alcoholism and other stuff, it was a very scary thing. I think seeing shows like that only influenced me more to NOT EVER USE DRUGS, because I never wanted to end up like those characters. Obviously, being an adult now, I know that it was only t.v., but the reality of drugs and it causing someone like Diana, to resort to lying, stealing and God knows what else, is still a compelling thing to see.

Your comment abt the Cosby show is I can see how you did expect that to occur. We grew up in the 70's with shows that were very gritty. Cosby Show, reminded me of my years growing up in a middle class family.

I can hear the promo in my ears:

Announcer: "On a very special episode of "the Cosby Show", Cliff dies from a Hoagie Overdose. His daugher Denise shares to the audience her feelings about the father she loved."

Denise: Okay, like, daddy was like the coolest and stuff.
