It is odd that a sitcom that lasted 12 seasons would have no holiday themed episode....it did have a thanksgiving themed episode in season one, my only guess is that producer Don Fedderson productions didn't believe in it (perhaps not bankable for reruns), Fedderson also produced "Family Affair" which only had a partial Christmas themed episode called "Christmas in July" about a dying girls young wish to live till christmas, so the Davis family brought her christmas early in July...also it might have been that the producer was of a different religious faith which sometimes had an influence. just an opinion.......

I think it must have had something to do with the creators' religious preferences too. It would have been fun to have Steve, Charley or Bub dress up in Santa Suits at least once though.
Edited to Add - In "Ernie and the O'Grady" Steve tells Edward O'Grady that the family does chores on Sunday mornings. |

...at least one "holiday-themed episode" at Christmastime. I think what they usually did was insert a special tag at the end of the episode that aired close to Christmas, with Fred McMurray (and possibly with the cast) appearing in an appropriate setting, and merely saying, ""On behalf on myself, the cast and crew, all of us on 'MY THREE SONS' wish all of you a very Merry Christmas...and a happier New Year" [or something to that effect].

They probably did, 'treky'; I'm not sure {unfortunately, I didn't see the original episodes that often}. But that was the standard practice for most sitcoms of that period....

....sorry!
This has nothing to do with M3S but since you sound like a fan of old sitcoms; how do you like my signature? That's from the pilot of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES. |
