Post Entertainment Tonight(September 8) is a MUST WATCH!

Next Saturday, they are doing a brand new behind the scenes story on the Hogan Family on ET weekend. Well, actually Sandy Duncan. They might have more info on the Hogan Family but they didn't show it. It'll probably be about 5 minutes but Sandy was talking about how she was an alcoholic! Looks very interesting. And she looks different yet again. Her hair is more brown--not the bleached blonde.

Set your VCR guys! If you don't know the time Entertainment Tonight is on in your area, here's the link to check it out.

She said she had a brain tumor a while back in the 70's that caused her to be blind in her left eye.

She was depressed and was suicidal. And after the Hogan Family went off the air, she became an alcoholic.

Not much else I don't think--and her hair is brown now.

If I remember anything else, I'll be sure to post it!

Question

You mean Sandy Duncan has been blind in her left eye all this time? Or it was just temporary? That's too bad...it's terrible when such things happen, I'm glad she's better now.

What else happened? Did the ET segment talk about what the twins Mark and Willie are doing now?

Thanks!

I was wondering that as well, I heard via email that they showed a clip of the Hogan Family. Wish I could have caught it on tv.

No, it was definitely permanent. It's detailed on my site in the articles section. Go to: http://www.angelfire.com/music2/ejsnet/

and then click on Articles section, then go to "Right At Home With the Hogans" for Sandy's biography.

It is definitely a terrible thing, but she came out of it OK and said she was grateful to be alive. Instead of wallowing she looked on the bright side. It's one of things that I admire about her most.

Nothing was said about them directly, but you have to remember, this was a spotlight on "Sandy Duncan", not "The Hogan Family". All she said was that there was no controversy backstage when she arrived on the show (she must have been alluding to rumors that she was treated badly by the cast instead of the Valerie Harper fiasco, 'cause trust me, there was plenty of crap regarding Valerie. I have the televised interviews to prove it!) and that they all were like family. When they were taping the last show of the series (which she said came prematurely) they threw a party afterward and the whole show (creative as well as the cast) just "wept, wept, wept...". And she said that she became an alcoholic BEFORE the show ended, or at least that was my understanding. She said no one knew since she was one of those "disciplined alcoholics who, after work was done, would have her wine and get smashed." Since she didn't have steady work for a while, I'm assuming the "work" she refers to is "The Hogan Family". While discussing this, they showed a 'behind the scenes' blocking of the episode where the boys search Sandy's room for cigarettes (she started smoking again in the episode "Tobacco Road").

I'm not sure what else I missed (that pertained to "The Hogan Family") other than they did mention how it was renamed from "Valerie's Family" (when Sandy came on) to "The Hogan Family". If something comes to mind, I'll post it, OK?

Thumbs up

I got to see Sandy's interview on ET, wow she looks great!! I love the brownish hair on her, and I also like it longers. She looked so youthful and vibrant. Gotta love her..
