Default My Mid-90s Nick at Nite Marathon on DVD!

For one night only, I’m going to relive the old N@N schedule. This comes thanks to the wonderful DVDs of these particular shows.

8:00pm - “The Munsters”
8:30pm - “I Dream of Jeannie”
9:00pm - “I Love Lucy”
9:30pm - “Bewitched”
10:00pm - “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”
10:30pm - “The Odd Couple”
11:00pm - “Taxi”
11:30pm - “The Dick Van Dyke Show”
12:00am - “The Bob Newhart Show”

The only show from the actual schedule I’m missing is “Rhoda” which aired at 10:30pm. So every show moved up a slot. Other than that, this was a real N@N schedule back in 1996. Heck, for one week, I can even relive the old Block Party Summer lineup.

Munster Mondays
Lucy Tuesdays
Bewitched Bewednesdays
Odd Couple Thursdays
Jeannie Fridays

This lineup would contain the first six episodes of each of these shows. The lineup following the marathons would consist of:

11:00pm - Taxi
11:30pm - The Mary Tyler Moore Show
12:00am - The Dick Van Dyke Show
12:30am - The Bob Newhart Show

Those were some pretty old shows they were playing then (as compared to now), but I guess that's because all of the shows we're watching now on Nick-at-Nite were still in their first run in the '90s. I used to love Lucy Tuesdays! It seems now as if Nick-at-Nite shows more programming from the decade-before-current, so in the 90s they would have been playing shows from the 80s (70s at the latest).

Here's the episode listings

8:00pm - “The Munsters”
Episode #50. "Will Success Spoil Herman Munster?"
I chose this episode for one reason and one reason only - it's the very first episode of "The Munsters" that Nick at Nite aired. I believe it was for their tenth anniversary marathon, and "The Munsters" was to be added right after that week long event. They aired that episode and then beginning on "Munster Mondays" they aired the show starting from the beginning.

8:30pm - “I Dream of Jeannie”
Episode #52. "There Goes the best Genie I Ever Had"
I chose this episode because I wanted it to be a color one. I haven't really watched this show much. So I just randomly chose a season two episode. This one sounded Interesting.

9:00pm - “I Love Lucy”
Episode #154. "Lucy and Bob Hope"
I chose this episode because, well, I like it. Th Block Party Summer marathon will feature the first six episodes of the show. So I wanted my selection for this night to be a later episode. Plus, this is the first episode with the "real" Little Ricky in it.

9:30pm - “Bewitched”
Episode #17. "A Is For Aardvark"
I chose this episode because it's my favorite. And remember, at this time, Nick at Nite only aired the first two seasons. So I had to choose a B&W episode. I was originally going for a second season episode, but once I saw the title for this one, I remembered how much I love it.

10:00pm - “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”
Episode #35. "The Six-and-a-Half-Year Itch"
I chose this episode because it's one of my favorites. I was never really into this show on Nick at Nite. I watched it, but I didn't love it. I like it a lot more now, but it's mostly because it reminds me of the classic Nick at Nite nights.

10:30pm - “The Odd Couple”
Episode #22. "What Makes Felix Run"
I chose this episode, first of all, because I only have the first season on DVD. Secondly, I'm using the first six episodes in the Block Party Summer marathon. And lastly, because it's one that I enjoy from the first season.

11:00pm - “Taxi”
Episode #64. "Latka the Playboy"
It was between this one and "Reverend Jim: A Space Oddysey". And I chose to go with the Latka episode. However, I will try to squeeze the other episode in my week long BPS marathon, with the episodes following the block party.

11:30pm - “The Dick Van Dyke Show”
Episode #64. "That's My Boy??"
I chose this one, besides being a classic episode, but because this is an episode I had taped on Nick at Nite. Back then, I loved N@N so much, that some nights I would get a blank tape, record all through the night and watch the episodes the next day. This is one of the episodes I remember watching from one of those tapes.

12:00am - “The Bob Newhart Show”
Episode #45. "A Love Story"
I chose this episode because I really haven't seen many episodes of this show. I was never really a fan. So I just randomly chose an episode.

I'll do the Block Party Summer Listings later. I'm planning this marathon for this Friday and then the week after that will be the Block Party Summer (oddly enough it will air when the Summer has just ended. lol)
