Default Who could play who in possible UM-related movies

A few months ago, someone at this forum suggested that if a movie were to be made about Marvin Gabrion (who, in addition to being on death row for Rachel Timmerman's murder, is a suspect in the disappearances of Rachel's daughter Shannon and several men), the role of Gabrion could be played by Sean Penn. I actually agreed with that person, and I still do.

So my question is this: If they were to make more movies about cases that were profiled on UM, which case(s) would you like to see depicted in a movie, and who do you think should star in it?

Well this has already been done but Dwight Schultz was physically perfect casting for Dave Davis in the movie made about the Shannor Mohr case.

I wish I could find a copy somewhere as Schultz is one of my favorite actors and it would be an interesting role for him to play as he usually played the goofy good guy on shows like "The A-Team" and "Star Trek"

Damn. I hadn't seen that posting before, and I totally agree.... but Sean Penn is always a good choice.

If you dyed Hugh Grant's hair blond, he could play that computer hacker guy that someone uses for their avator... he was the original Dark Dante. I don't know why, but whenever I see his mugshot, I think of Hugh Grant's mugshot when he was busted with Divine Brown... so maybe that one is just me.

I could see Tami Lynn Lephart being played by someone like Reese Witherspoon... again, that could just be me...

Every one should feature an appearance by Keely Shay Smith, as played by outstanding young British actress Keeley Hazell.

Lightbulb I've got some ideas

Richard Dreyfuss as Gordon Weaver. They both have beards. Also, Weaver just reminds me of Dreyfuss.

Edward Norton as David Lee Kemp (although Kemp has yet to be found). After seeing Kemp's mugshot, I figured that Norton would fit the role well.

As soon as I come up with more ideas, I will post them here.

I consider myself quite a movie buff, and there are two actors that I say cannot go wrong... Kane, you've named them both: Edward Norton and Sean Penn. You have great taste.

This may be a long shot, but Kris Kristofferson as the Unabomber?

Kris looks a bit like him with his beard and mustache. I think Kris is a little taller that Ted Kaczynski, tho.

I could see Judith Light playing Cindy James. I haven't seen Judith in any tv movies lately and I know she's already played Marie Hilley but whenever I see that segment of UM with Cindy, she just reminds of Judith so much.

Thank you LooksLikeCRicci. But of course, I myself didn't come up with the idea of Sean Penn portraying Marvin Gabrion. Another member of this forum did.

However, there are other criminals profiled on UM that Sean Penn could also play. Jim Burnside comes to mind. He was the man who fatally stabbed his estranged wife and attempted to kill her co-worker.

I have another ideal UM movie: Donald Sutherland as Jerry Lee Bowen (who murdered his wife Brenda in 1997). Sutherland and Bowen don't look much like each other, but Sutherland has a history of playing weirdos and psychos. Both descriptions apply to Bowen, so Donald Sutherland would fit into the role just fine.

Default Kenneth McDuff

I haven't yet come up with any ideas as to who could play Colleen Reed, but I have considered a number of actors that could play her murderer, serial killer Kenneth McDuff. After I first learned about McDuff (via UM and America's Most Wanted), I thought that if there were to be a movie about him, he could be played by Ed O'Neill (of Married...with Children fame). I based that idea on some of the facial features, such as the eyes.

However, I have two other good ideas: Sean Penn or Alec Baldwin. Both actors are known to be ill-tempered, as they have both lashed out on occasion (especially at photographers). So I think such a demeanor could translate well into the role of a violent serial killer such as Kenneth McDuff.
