Default Is this the Real reason a lot of fans don't like the 2nd Lionel?

"TRYING TOO HARD TO BE COOL?

When the original Lionel was naturally cool?

What I'm trying to say is the 2nd Lionel was a DORK-lol

I liked the first Lionel WAYYYY better! But that's how it always works for me, I guess. I mean, in Bewitched, I preferred the First Darren to the second, and in The Fresh Prince, the First Vivian to the second, etc. I guess it's hard to see somebody else playing that character that you've grown attatched to. But yeah, the second Lionel wasn't as good as the first one.

Replacements generally suck. I think the only replacement that I can think of that I liked was the second Marilyn Munster.

YES!!! Definitely! Second Lionel tried SO hard to be cool, which was actually lame so it made him look like more of a doofis. Original Lionel didn't have to try at all. He was naturally cool like you said. Also, second Lionel could not act.

I didn't like Lionel period. I know that The Jeffersons was rooted in his initial appearances on All In The Family, but I would have preferred him not being there at all. The first Lionel was militant and arrogant, the second one was nerdy and a pushover. The show flowed better when he wasn't on at all.

Did it also flow better when Mother Jefferson wasn't there?

Yes, I agree. I only watch the episodes with the original Lionel in them. Like you said, the second Lionel tried acting cool, but couldn't pull it off. And, on top of everything else, Mike was WAY better looking than Damon.

Lionel #1 was the epitomy of cool. Lionel # 2 was a bit of a dork, but he also wasn't very funny.

There was also something about him (second Lionel) I didn't like, I don't know what it was, just something about him. I think it was that he was so different from the first Lionel, and if they were doing a replacement, at least try to get someone similar?

He wasn't happy that his role on the show DECREASED and that the Role of Zara Cully INCREASED

Because during the summer of 1979, he ran into Sherman Hemsley and they were talking about the old days and then Sherman asked him did he want to come back and he said yeah and that's when he was added back to the show at the start of the 1979-80 season
