I have been reading with increasing interest of a new technique called Live Feed in which a kinescope can be restored to look as if it were shot on modern video equipment. An example of this technique will be shown on Sunday's Emmy Awards, wherein a restored kinescope of comedian Jan Murray will be shown during the tribute to television personalities who passed on in the last year. The technique will also be used on the upcoming DVD of Elvis' appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show. I wonder if this technique would be used for the anticipated DVD re-release of the Lost Episodes. I have not seen any restoration examples, but if it is an economically viable process, it has the potential to open the vaults for restoring previously unsalvagable footage.
