work as a Sitcom.
The episode with Lionel moving in with the Bunkers and his parents following him over to the Bunkers trying to get him to come back home. This episode had the feel of a Jeffersons episode. First you have Lionel coming to the Bunkers pissed off at his Dad, then Louise comes in followed by george. George and Louise are arguing in the Bunkers and George even tells Archie "why don't you go home" Edith, Mike, and Glorua have very small roles in this episode while George, Lionel, and Louise have very LARGE roles in this episode. I'm almost positive this was the first episode George calls his wife-"WEEZY" and you even hear how George hates his Son going with a Mixed Girl. This episode was the REAL JEFFERSONS PILOT to me and was much better than the Real Pilot. Anyone agree this was the best episode of All in the Family featuring the Jeffersons? |

It may have been a good ep to see if the Jeffersons cast 'buzzes' with an audience, but I have never liked that ep, though. No matter what kind of a man Archie is, nobody should put up with crap like a whole family of neighbors barging in in the depth of night with an intrafamily argument, and even telling him to "go home." That's ridiculous. But Edith, Gloria, and Meathead, of course, think they have to lick their feet because it's the J's. Possibly, it showed the J's could carry a show themselves, but it doesn't give me a good opinion of them.

Just watched a season 2 episode of the Jeffersons when they do the same thing to the Willises that they did to the Bunkers-lol Lionel storms out of the Apt and goes to the Willises late at night whil they were sleeping and George and Louise follows him up there to continue the argument-lol |

I like that episode, too. "Hey, if yous don't keep quiet down there, I'm gonna call the cops on yas! Hear that? Nothin'. Them colored people is always scared of the cops."
Lionel's Engagement is also a good one. Quote:

I think I like the ep wit Lionel living with the Jeffersions a little better than the engagement party. I like this statement from archie-"Well have a Harlem Slumber Party Going on Out there" lol |

I liked that episode, but it didn't have the feel of a pilot to me. I also enjoyed the episode with the Jeffersons, where Archie passed a counter fit 20 dollar bill to George. In the end everyone was passing money they owed and Archie got nothing, lol.

Speaking of which --
I noticed during the episode where Archie & Irene play a game of pool that Mr. Jefferson looked like he had greyer hair(whiter) on the sides of his afro. Anyone else notice that? It was like the 2nd episode that Sherman Hemsley appeared in I think. |

I noticed, I think they were trying to make him look like his wife, 50ish-lol So i guess they figured the gray hairs would make him look like he was in his 50's. He didn't have any gray hair in the First Episode of the Jeffersons |

I just wished they would have stayed Angry....
Both Archie and George mellowed greatly over the course of the shows... it made no sense. Both men were in their 40/50s and had been racist and bitter all their lives... and yet by the end of both shows, both were a whole lot less angry and a lot more lovable, and I hated that. |
