Default Can someone tell me how the Pre-Order thing works?

Your account gets charged and you get the DVD in the future?

No, your account gets charged / debited only when the dvd is despatched. I suppose the benefits are you should get it slightly early and also you are guaranteed a copy... not that many sell-out, but you never know.

Pre-orders often times are cheaper than if you would wait until it is released and buy it. Ususally only a dollar or two though. At least from my experience with amazon.com and deep discount dvd.

Your account/credit card is NOT charged until the DVD is shipped out.

Because most of the time, the price is lower before it's released. And once it's release for everyone to buy (i.e. stores and other internet stores) it's WAY cheaper. And plus you'll get it on it's release date.

Yeah but a DVD always runs around $22 to $30 and I always get it on it's release date in the stores. So I'm trying to see what I'm really gaining by doing this

OK, for example a few months ago I pre-ordered "I Love Lucy" DVD for 19.99, and that's what I paid for it since I pre-ordered it. And after it was released, it went up to 40++ dollars. So if a DVD comes out like "The Jeffersons" and it's $30, before it came out you prob could have pre-ordered it for 17.99 or 18.99 on Amazon.com. So it's always good to save some money.

I don't want to try it with a show like the Jeffersons or Three's Company-lol If i do this it would have to be with a show like Fresh Prince

If you buy an item from Amazon.com and the price drops in 30 days, they'll refund the difference. You enter the item number, purchase date and e-mail address at www.refundplease.com and Refund Please will notify you if the price drops so you can get a refund.

i have done this dozens of times, there really is no way you can lose - the money does NOT come out of your account until AFTER your order ships, you get locked into the better pre-order price, you can always CANCEL your preorder before it ships if you find a better deal elsewhere, and you can get a refund for the difference if the price drops in the month after it is released....

it guarantees that you will get a copy even if it is sold out everywhere else, and usually you will get it before the release date (although there is a chance that you may have to wait longer for it, but that has only happened to me ONCE out of dozens of orders)
