Default Benny Hill

Hello,

This is my first post to this forum and I have a question about the Benny Hill Show. Its kinda difficult 'cause its a sketch show but I'm wondering if someone who knows them better could help me out.

There are two sketches I'm looking for and I don't know what box set they'd be on from A&E with their DVD series.

The first sketch (one of those goofy movies) was something of a life story of this guy. It showed him running behind the bushes with this girl and then running back out in front jumping (obviously 'cause she was pregnant). He went into the army and they showed some funny stuff like him firing a rifle on the ground and being pulled out of the frame because of the recoil on the rifle. The very last scene was him in a nursing home playing strip poker with a nurse. Shes down to her bra and panties and he gets a full house or something like that and has a heart attack before she can strip.

The second is where he plays the Japanese film star (can't remember the name) but they show another one of those funny movies where he does a martial arts battle with a bear. Theres a real long fence and hes standing in the middle with two bad guys on either end. It looks as if he stretches his arms out to grab both of 'em.

Hope this is enough to jog peoples memory. If ANYONE knows which set these are on, please reply and let me know. I'd like to pick it up or rent it to see these things again. These just made me laugh and I know they weren't on any of the videos that came out some time ago through HBO.

Thanks,

David

Welcome. I'm a big Benny Hill fan also. Both sketches sound familiar. I own all four of the A&E sets released so far. If I were to guess, I'd narrow it down to sets 2 or 3, but that's just me not being sure. I could skim through the various episodes and let you know unless someone beats me to it by then. I'll check 'em out.

As to why they weren't on any of the HBO videos: The routines were pre-1976. The first sounds like "The Short Happy Life of Maurice Dribble," from Dec. 25, 1969; that would be in A&E's The Naughty Early Years - Set 1: 1969-1971. The second was actually a parody of Chinese kung fu movies, called "Behind the Bamboo Certain," aired originally on March 12, 1975 and featured in The Naughty Early Years - Set 3: 1975-1977.

Thank You..

I'm sorry to be a pain but do you know which disc that Happy Life of Maurice Dribble is on in the first set? I want to rent it from NetFlix. If it isn't too much trouble that would really be a big help. I haven't seen it in years.

The shows are in the order of original air date. Set 1, for example, has three discs. The first four shows would be on Disc 1. Dec. 25, 1969 was the second show, therefore would be the second show in Disc 1 of Set 1.
