Has anyone seen that show on Discovery, "A Haunting"? It's a show where supposedly true ghost stories are re-created, like UM, but the segments are an hour in length. The show is even scarier than UM's ghost segments, believe it or not. If you have seen it, which ghost stories that were featured on UM would you like to see on "A Haunting"? Imagine an entire hour dedicated to the bunk beds.

Not to play a "devil's advocate", but I think an hour long examination would hurt that case (bunk beds) more than it would help it. That segment works the way all low budget horror films work: less is more.

A big budget production, on video, without sillouetted interviews and without Malkin's slightly cheesy but horrific score, the bunk beds segment is just an afterthought. I praise the director, Kevo Rosenfeld, for bringing that genius of a segment into being.

I hope that didn't sound too arrogant. I've been a huge fan of this segment for years. I've broken down the thing a hundred times over and I've come to the conclusion that the story really isn't all that scary (read "Haunted America"). The low budget restraints (ie. not actually showing the ghosts and using cheap tricks instead, such as lighting and crappy double exposures) actually reaches the psyche on a higer level than contemporary Ghost docs (black hope curse is a good example). Less is more. Our minds fill in the blanks.

It's always fascinated me (especially as a graduate of film/TV studies) how a segment that shows no actual ghosts could so overwhelmingly be agreed upon as the scariest segment ever. Damn I love that segment. "AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"..."What happened?!?!?!....Where's the baby?!?!?!?"

I'd have to say...they ought to expand the segment that never made it to the DVD, about the Nevada farm house. Queen Mary has been covered to death (no pun intended) and General Wayne Inn is way to hip now.

The Nevada house in Fish Springs would be interesting to see in an hour segment. There were two families who experienced hellish occourances, so the show could probably dedicate a half-hour to each of their stories.

A Haunting is one of my favourite programs. I will admit there are several scenes in each episode that are frightening.

I saw the episode of Bobby Mackey's Music World club in Kentucky. It was frightening, yet seductive. I was able to resist changing the channel momentarily or place a pillow over my face. However, I was tempted to place a pillow over my face on several occasions.
