IT'S ALL OVER

My Yankees just ended all the drama of who is going to win the American League east, defeating the hapless Red Sox in every aspect of the game.

A special thanks should go to Theo Epstein, probably the worst GM in the history of major league baseball. The adage has always been "pitching is 90 percent of the game" and Epstein assembled a bullpen that rivals the "sisters of Mercy" No lefty in the bull pen, knowing a 5 game series with the Yanks was approaching and aware of the fact that the Yanks can put 7 lefties in the lineup, what does Epstein do right before the trading deadline.? He trades for a catcher, who when in Atlanta, had half the staff not want him behind the plate. Lopez is traded to Baltimore and he was used at first and as a dh. This is who they traded for. Of course in today's game he fails to block a ball in the dirt and that was the winning run. Theo didn't want to resign Myers so the Yanks got him and boy has he been effective again lefties.

Yanks picked up Lidle and Abreu, took a shot with Ponsoon. Bottom line is the Yanks made changes, Boston went for Lopez.

Thanks again Theo.

Of course Theo thought Damon was washed up. Just made player of the week but Boston got Coco Crisp. They didn't even have to choke, it's a team that just smells.

-yea i agree theo shouldve made a move before the deadline, it was a very poor choice not to.

-the sox could still get the wild card so we are not out

-damon cant throw, crisp can, you cant say that crisp sucks when you see how hard he tried to catch giambis home run, he got injured but he tried, damon probably wouldnt have made any effort to catch it

That's how it goes, winners rejoice and losers cry. Time to get a foamy beer because it's all over as the fat lady is getting ready to sing.

Damon has a weak arm but he is everything you want in a lead off batter. Hits 300, goes deep in the count and has suprising power. 20 hrs. is superb for a leadoff batter. Then you take the intangible, Damon is a gamer, a proven winner. Why, you think Boston is better with Crisp out there.?

Actually that's not always the way it goes, not with everyone. I seem to recall a Sox sweep not all that long ago that led to a World Series win. I never gloated once, and never knocked the Yankees. But that's just me. Class is as class does.

It's not gloating but I got tired of reading how Epstein was such a great GM, bringing a chanpionship to a team. void of one for 86 years. Curious to see how the Boston press describes this debacle. A major league team should be ashamed to have a bullpen of what this one consisted of. Good for double A but not the major leagues. Someone has to take the blame.

Like the Yanks YES network, Boston has it's own network and makes a bundle as do the Yanks. Difference is Boston didn't want to spend the bucks. They could have gotten Lidle and Abreu but it would have cost. When you are a playoff contender and you know you have weaknesses, you do better then just Lopez. The Boston braintrust must have known if the Yanks got to the bullpen, the game was over.

yes i do, i think hes a great outfielder and he gets out there and gives his all

like i said i will admit that theo shouldve made a move, it was dumb not to do something about our pitching, i definitely think he shouldve put papelbon into the rotation if he wasnt going to try to acquire any pitchers, im only confident in 3 of our starting pitchers-wells, beckett and schilling. but it was a bad move on his part, dont blame the actual players though, because the red sox arent a bad team, our GM just isnt doing his job right.

Some people are born with class and some aren't. He acts like they just won the WS. Let's see what happens when the playoffs start. The Yankees haven't won a title in quite a few years. If they get swept in the first round, I bet he wouldn't like a thread like this bashing his team.

Can't agree with Papelbon becoming a starter as that would leave you with no one to close in the ninth. As it is you are weak for the 7th and 8th and can't afford to also have no one for the ninth.

The players can only do what they are capable of and Epstein didn't assemble a winning squad. Any production you get from behind the plate is gravy but you must have a defensive catcher, one that can call a game, one that instills confidence in the staff. Again why Lopez?, was that the misssing piece.?

Obviously sports isn't your thing. I can remember in old Boston Garden when Red Auerbach, the Celtic coach thought the game was over, he would light his victory cigar. That was during the game, to rub it in. You ever see when a team sweeps, the fans take out the brooms? Ever notice how fans wave the crying towels to the losing team. Fans always boast, crow and glee with victory. Don't fans and thousand of them boo the the opponents, ridicule them etc. So I dislike the Boston teams, always have and I have a chance to drink the victory. I should just be quiet because you say so.

Oh I love sports and I've been known to gloat a few times in my life especially when The Cowboys beat up on the Redskins or The Eagles but I try to have some class when I know their's fans of the other teams around here. I remember one time in the late 80's the Eagles ran up the score against us. They were a contender and we were an alsoran. I never forgot about it and when we were finally good it felt great to rub their faces in it. We went on to win the SB 3 out of 4 years and The Eagles are still waiting. Everything comes around sooner or later.
