Anyone remember a case where a girl was apparently abused by her dad and she went to stay with foster parents? I remember them (the foster parents) teaching her math with cards and her brother standing outside of her house saying, "Dad's inside, and he's got his belt off. He wants you to get inside."
Then she ran to the Zelinski's. Now Sharon is trying to find them? Crystaldawn, I've requested this one for UM Favorites Volume 5 in another post.

I know family is family, but WHY would she want to find them?! It takes a special person to forgive abuse suffered as a child.

It is my understanding that she wanted to find her foster parents, not her real ones. After all, the Zelinski's took her in and I think she goes by that name.....could be wrong, tho.

To clear up a little of the confusion, she found her foster parents, which is who she was looking for in the first place.
This was another one of the better lost loves segments, and I'm glad she found her foster parents to make for a happy ending. There were several crushing scenes in this segment, and that's part of the reason I remember it so well. She had given her birth father a belt buckle one Christmas, a decision that would come back to haunt her as he would use it to hit her. Then she got bounced around from one foster family to another. Then, when she finally found one she was compatiable with, her father somehow regained custody of her, and took her away in the middle of the night. This segment provided a pretty real portrayal of what child abuse sufferers sometimes have to go through, maybe they should use it as an instructional video in some places. |
