Default Ok Irene I watched the episode when that lady appeared as George's old girlfriend and

Mother Jefferson was the one who called her without telling George because she wanted her to see how well George was doing since she dumped and maybe they would have hooked up. Mother Jefferson stated that she was much nicer than louise and that she knew how much George wanted her but she dumped him. I will admit that It was foolish to call someone who dumped him but I guess she just felt that Louise wasn't as cute as that woman and that's why she always attacked louise. Again Irene, I'm just analyzing the situation as it was presented to us on the show, this is not my opinion I'm just speculating why mother Jefferson was not to happy that George married Louise. She even told the woman on the phone-"George is still married to Louise"

LOL

Ok, then you responded wrong when I mentioned Barbara McNair's name on that other post. When I mentioned her name, you stated that is the old girlfriend you were referring to. So, obviously you were wrong in telling me that. We then were talking abt two different episodes and two different girlfriends. Had I known the above episode is the one you were talking abt, then we could have had a different discussion.
As you can see after having watched the episode, the lady dumped George...Mother Jefferson was hoping that the lady would see George in a different light and therefore, somehow Louise would be out of the picture. AH MOTHER JEFFERSON, what a crazy old lady.

What a nasty, old, mean bat! She was always dissing poor Louise. Man, it has been awhile since I watched Jeffersons...isn't there an episode when Mother Jefferson finally realizes that Louise is the best lady for George? I seem to recall something like that.

That still was not alluded to at all. She could've liked that woman for many other reasons, and "cuter" never came up. Just the fact that you had to go back and look at the episode means that you were speaking your own opinion.

Either way, whatever her reasons were, MOTHER JEFFERSON WAS A MEAN OLD BAT WHO WANTED LOUISE OUT OF THE PICTURE...as for her thinking Louise is not cute or pretty, is Solomon's view...I don't have a view on what her reason may be. Maybe Mother Jefferson thought Louise was mean to her or had been rude in some way and never liked her since.

In the episode where Louise and Jenny slap the hell out of Lionel, at the end Mother Jefferson was about to slap Lionel as well. Once Lionel saw the error of his ways, he apologized and left to apologize to Jenny. When Louise closed the door and walked back into the room, Mother Jefferson attacked her with a big hug screaming "Louise! Louise!" with joy. It was very unexpected.

Yeah, I seen that. But I seem to recall another episode where Mother Jefferson states that Louise is good for George...I don't know, but I seem to recall something like that.

Exactly. There are many reasons why people take to some while not being fond of others. It can be something like an aura or vibe. I've said myself sometimes that I just don't like someone and I have no good reason why. She probably didn't like Louise because she treated George so well and he didn't need her as much. I think I've stumbled upon something :-)

When anyone compares the woman to louise it's kind of hard not to say that Mother Jefferson didn;t like her because she wasn't as pretty as the other. Remember she probably just wanted the best girl possible for her son and felt that Louise wasn't as cute. Now i'm not saying Louise was a monster but when you compare the two they are so different physically that you can;t help but think that it was the physical reason

That is YOUR VIEW. Of course the ladies are going to look different. You think George would only pick the same kind of lady over and over? I think Louise is beautiful, inside and out. How are you, a man, going to know what an old, mean-spirited lady is thinking? I have seen many mothers-in-law hate their daughters-in-law for various reasons, and most of them had nothing to do with looks. You are a man who is always commenting on women and how they look, so it is obvious to you what you will always think.
It had nothing to do with looks. Or else, why would she accuse Louise of being spoiled and/or thinking of $$$ when it came down to getting a maid. Mother Jefferson accused Louise of wanting a maid when it was George who wanted one, not Louise. As soon as Mother jefferson found out it was George who was wanting the maid, she all of a sudden changed her mind.
