Default Paul McCartney/Heather Mills

I don't know about the US, but in the UK, their separation has gained quite a lot of media coverage, and I've read quite a few news reports about their very stormy separation. I wondered what people's thoughts were on the matter.

For myself, having been a Beatles fan since I was 11, and always having liked Paul McCartney, while I'm sympathetic with both of them, I feel slightly sorrier for Paul. I read yesterday that after he offered her £30,000,000 for a quick divorce and she turned it down, he then offered her £50,000,000, and she's turned that down as well. He really does seem anxious to avoid a long court battle, and I read in the article that she could be entitled to a quarter of his £825,000,000 fortune.

Now you could argue that Paul would be incredibly rich if he had to give Heather a quarter of that fortune, and that it wouldn't hurt him to, but at the same time, there are a lot better things that can be done with money than spending it on a divorce. I know Paul does quite a bit of charity work (as does Heather) and that would be a far better thing to spend the money on, in my opinion. I know Paul feels passionate about quite a lot of issues, including the land mines, and I respect his generous charity work.

I can understand why Heather might feel she should receive all she's entitled to, but I think she'd be better off accepting Paul's £50,000,000 offer. He obviously really wants to get it over and done with and doesn't want to go through a long court battle, and £50,000,000 seems reasonable to me.

That is the impression one can get, isn't it? I'd like to think that she isn't a gold digger, but it can seem as though she is.

I read a news report a few months ago that they'd been having some arguments, although at that time, Heather was saying that she and Paul were very much still together. Then a few weeks later, they announced they were separating. I'd suspected there was trouble after reading the first news report, but I was surprised when I read the first one - I actually did think their marriage would last.

I guess its the obvious conclusion to draw from the situation

I think Paul jumped into dating way too early after Linda died. My armchair psychiatrist assessment is that after nearly 30 years of marriage, he just didn't want to be alone. And with Heather, he seemed to naively expect something as good as what he had with Linda, which definitely turned out not to be the case.

However, I don't have any ill will toward Heather (or any of the other Beatle wives, which some fans seem to harbor). I don't think her intention going into this was to rob Paul blind. I honestly believe that she was genuinely in love with him, at least at first.

They're definitely not compatible, though. I remember seeing them together on Larry King Live earlier this year when they were discussing their baby seal clubbling protest, and Paul couldn't get a word in edgewise and seemed visually annoyed at his wife.

I'd imagine that they must have been having some troubles in their marriage for a while, so maybe when you saw that interview, their marriage had already started to go downhill?

I haven't really seen them together in any interviews, so can't comment on whether I felt they were compatible or not. But there may have been some obstacles, considering the large age difference.

I saw them on Larry King Live a few years ago, before they were married, and Heather was a bitch on wheels. I couldn't believe it. She was very rude to King, and just about ripped his head off for asking a simple question. She never smiled.

There was a lot of conflict and tension between Paul's kids and Heather. I agree Paul was on the rebound when he hooked up with Heather.

I wish Linda never got sick and died, for a whole bunch of reasons.

I love Paul McCartney! I have no idea why they separated, but I see Paul as very loving, compassionate and a good guy! He deserves better than her! He deserves to be happy! If he looks for love again, I hope he seeks inner beauty instead of a just another drop-dead gorgeous woman who is going to make his life miserable..

I think Heather being 26 years younger than Paul really loved him at first. Then when Beatrice came along, she probably thought this was a link to Paul to forever "keep her around". Then after the baby, I think she turned into the snobbish gold-digger she became. She tried to change Paul into what she wanted him to be. There was always friction between her & Paul's kids. They were looking out for daddy, & I don't blame them. Hell, Heather is 38 years old & "claimed" she didn't know about The Beatles!!! They were riding together in a car & 'Birthday" came on the radio & Paul said, "That's me!!" She claimed to not know that that was him!!! Now, let's get real here!! Not everyone likes or loves The Beatles. But in 36 years since their break-up, EVERYBODY on the planet BY NOW has heard of The Beatles!! EVERYBODY has had to have heard some music at sometime!! If not, how can you say you don't like them, never hearing a song to make your decision!! I think she was an obvious fraud from the beginning & she was only in the relationship & had a baby by Paul to get where she's at now!! DIVORCE SETTLEMENT with BIG MONEY PENDING!!! I don't think she planned to hang around long-term.
She was with him for MONEY ONLY!! Paul should be allowed to pay her what he sees fit. It's reported he offered her $150,000,000 to settle out of court!! he should also get full custody of Beatrice!! At 38, 150 million would definitely last her the rest of her life-- the gold-digger!!!!
