Default Madonna Abandons Movie Career

(WENN) Madonna has begrudgingly turned her back on her movie career, because she is convinced the media is hell bent on ensuring her film projects are flops. The singer was lauded for her performance in the big screen adaptation of the musical Evita, but she has suffered a string of flops, most notably Body Of Evidence and Swept Away, her last movie role directed by husband Guy Ritchie, which failed to secure a cinema release. And the 47-year-old, who is currently in the midst of her Confessions world tour, will concentrate solely on her music career from now on. She says, "I hate to admit it, but I've decided to give that up. How can any film survive if everyone says it's going to be a flop from the very day the project is even conceived? It's already dead in the water."

She does have a point. People just seem to laugh at the thought of her in a movie, even if she might be capable.

Her best movie was Evita, even though they did have to lower the keys on the songs so she could sing them.

I thought she did a great job in Dick Tracy and A league of their own and her movie The Next Best Thing wasn't to bad, I actually liked that one. If she would just do movies like that she would do fine.

I loved her in Evita and A league of Their Own. But it's true, her movies get shot down before they ever leave the gound.

Madonna doesn't stink the house out with her acting, but she's definitely not a great actress. Mediocre. I liked her in Evita. I loved that movie.

I liked her in League Of Their Own and Dick Tracy. That's about it.

You know, I think she's actually a pretty good actress. Too bad she (or her agent I guess) suuuuucks at picking movie roles for her these past few years.
