It's sickening!!!!!! I haven't been keeping up with MTV and today's music videos much lately, but I remember Aaliyah pretty well when she started out in '94. I had a tape of her hit somg.

But even though I haven't been keeping up, I was feeling kind of shocked for about 3 days since last week Sunday- kind of like that glum feeling I had when Princess Di died (exactly 4 years ago today). Tragedies.

Sad

It was very sad. I wasn't a fan of hers but I knew who she was and I had heard some of her songs. She was very talented. That pilot had no business flying a plane. I heard that he was high on cocaine while he was flying it. My deepist sympathies go out to the families of the people who were killed in the crash. RIP Aaliyah.

I honestly couldn't give a ****. I don't like her music at all. I don't know why people are making a big deal about her. It's not like she was John Lennon or anything. Oh yeah, and before people bash me for my opinion, I just want to say the topic says asks how I feel about her death. That's how I honestly feel.

That was uncalled for Slippery Dan...just because you don't like her music, she's still a person and needs to be respected.

I'm disturbed because I was starting to really like her music and her. She was really cool, and I think she would have been a good role model.

I loved Aaliyah so much & i miss her. I miss her so bad like i was her boyfriend & i wish i was her man. I liked her first 2 albums but her last one sucked. She was gonna be in the sequels to the Matrix. I didn't see her movie Queen Of The Damned but i didn't want to. She was good in Romeo Must Die.

Dan had the right to his opinion, and in a way he is right. I had never heard of her until the day she died, and then suddenly she's the best thing in the music idustry! It's funny, the music stations seemed to focus more on her death than George Harrison, who is a fu*king music legend!!! Not to mention the fact that nobody seemed to care about everyone else on the plane! So, I'll have to be the first one to say, my heart goes out to those other people, they had family and loved ones too!! She wasn't the most important thing on that plane, they were all humans and they ALL deserved some sympathy...but it's that damn media that lifts celebrities higher than everyone else, it's just not right!!

People like Slippery Dan have to give their opinions even though some people can't hack it.

I didn't know much about Aaliyah until she died. Then I had heard she was the singer of a song that I really loved and I got surprised.

Aaliyah seems to be a singer for the younger generation. This is their John Lennon (so to speak).

It sad that she died, but i think her family/OR record label is trying to cash in on her death..Her cd was labeled "Aaliyah's last..". And now they are releasing all unreleased tracks from her..that she probably didnt want to be heard, since they are "unreleased".

Do you guys live in the middle of nowhere?... how can you not know who Aaliyah was before her death?!

She had some VERY popular singles before she died...

"Back And Forth"
"If Your Girl Only Knew"
"One In a Million"
"4 Page Letter"
"To The One I Gave My Heart To To"
"Are You That Somebody?"
"Try Again"
"Come Back In One Piece"
"Are Feeling Me"
"We Need a Resolution"

(...and I'm not counting "Rock The Boat," "More Than a Woman," "I Care 4 U," or "Miss You" because those were released after she died.)

"One In a Million," "Are You That Somebody," and "Try Again" were played thousands of times per day on the radio, and MTV.

--

Sadly... Aaliyah was one of the few good role models left in the music business. She's was an overall sweet, smart, talented, and caring person all at once.

Yeah, obviously they are making money off her death. I didn't like her music much except Try Again and her new/unreleased song Miss You is good. Thats so sad what happened though, dan you deserve to burn for saying that she was as much of a person as John Lennon and in my opinion - BETTER!

Her death really didn't affect me that much. It was sad that she died so young, but I was never much of a fan.
