Default Did anyone ever watch that Stupid movie called the "WIZ"?

I turned this on at 12pm but I can't stomach it any longer. This is not a movie at all. Don't know what to call this. All this movie does is make me want to watch the WIZARD OF OZ. A REAL MOVIE. The Wiz is a JOKE

I so agree with you. Watching "The Wiz" just makes you long for the real thing, "Wizard of Oz" with Judy Garland, a true actress and phenomenal singing talent.

I like the Wiz, it isn't a classic like The Wizard of Oz, but it is still entertaining.

She looked so God-awful in that movie.

They resembled each other back then. Now, he resembles NO ONE.

Yeah, I saw The Wiz, and it was very good. Maybe it wasn't the "Wizard Of Oz", but I know many people who saw both movies and like them without dissin' the other. I like "The Wiz" and it was a good movie that didn't deserve this negative feedback. Some of ya'll don't realize that the Wiz was made 40 years after the Wizard of Oz and was a different era. The songs were modern and funkier for those who can get down with it. You can't touch The Wizard Of Oz, but The Wiz stood it's place. All it was doing was giving viewers how it would look in a black version. Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Nipsey Russell, and Ted Ross did an excellent job in recreating this classic. Something another group of actors probably wouldn't have been able to do. The Wiz is a classic, to me, it achieved a modest audience. I liked it, and it got a new generation for those who viewed it. I loved, the song, "Ease On Down the Road".

One thing people forget, whether they feel it was a bad movie, was that The Wiz was a very successful Broadway musical, winning 7 of the 8 Tony Awards it was nominated for three years before they did a movie version. I never saw the stage show, so I can't say how good of a job they did transferring it from stage to screen, but on its own, the movie was very enjoyable. That's the way it should be viewed, not with The Wizard of Oz stuck in the back of your mind.
