Default The Urkels - Spinoff of "Family Matters"

The Urkels
Spinoff of "Family Matters"

Takes place in 2006, Laura and Steve are happily married and living in Chicago (close to the Winslow household). Laura and Steve have one beautiful 3-year-old daughter named Danica, who is the light of both their lives. Laura works at the local news station, where she is a reporter (who anxiously wants to get to be an anchorwoman). Steve works as a science teacher at the local high school. Steve's boss/principal, Louis Duvane (Cedric the Entertainer) is a down-to-business, no-nonsense type of boss who is skeptical about how long Steve will last as a teacher in his school. Laura's brother, Eddie lives within walking distance of Laura and Steve's house, and often drops by whenever he feels like it (sometimes to their advantage and sometimes to their dismay). Eddie is still a bachelor looking for a good time...yet has found it with Laura's rival co-worker/nemesis, Brooke Bradley (Shannon Elizabeth).

EPISODES

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
It's Danica's 3rd birthday! Steve and Laura invite family and friends over to celebrate. Danica gets upset with Steve and Laura, and ends up throwing a big temper tantrum in front of everyone at the party. To make matters worse, Eddie brings a date-Brooke (Laura's rival co-worker who stole her promotion from her). Tension is in the air when Laura and Brooke learn Brooke is dating Laura's brother.

Ep2: Myra Makes Amends:
Steve's once-obsessed ex Myra now wants to make amends with him and Laura. Steve and Laura are asked to help Myra find love again. Steve sets Myra up with his fellow co-worker, David (who happens to be a bit uptight for Myra to handle), as where Laura sets Myra up with a former classmate, Jeff (who happens to be struggling with letting-go of an ex-girlfriend). Meanwhile, Eddie ends up having to babysit Danica, meaning he has to cancel a date with unhappy Brooke.

Ep3: A Dinner Party And A Sleepover:
Steve and Laura have Danica sleep over at Carl and Harriette's house for the night, as they plan to have a dinner party with Maxine & Waldo, Eddie & Brooke, and Myra & her date. Myra's date gets a bit under the guys' skins during dinner. After dinner, Waldo and Maxine announce their surprise engagement, everyone is shocked and happy for them. After they leave the Urkels', Eddie invites Brooke to "spend the night" at his bachelor pad (who accepts).

Ep4: Steve vs. Louis:
Steve feels threatened by Principal Duvane, who confessed he will stop at nothing to have Steve quit his teaching job at his school. Steve, along with his students, devises a plan to get back at Louis subtly without going "too far". Meanwhile, Laura does an assignment on a housefire where a 16-year-old girl got trapped inside. While reporting there, Laura and the station's crew witnesses the girl's cry-for-help. A heartfelt Laura, drops everything, to help save the girl and she does. Laura's crew gets the firsthand news coverage of her saving the then-trapped girl--plus Laura becomes a local hero.

Ep5: Room For One More?:
Myra learns she is getting evicted, due to not making enough money to pay rent. Myra is offered to move in with Maxine and Waldo in their two-bedroom apartment, she accepts--leading Laura to become a bit worried that Maxine will become closer to Myra than her. Meanwhile, Laura isn't feeling too well and goes to the doctor, where she learns she is two weeks pregnant. Laura is floored yet happy (as is Steve and the rest of the gang).

Ep6: Officer Down!:
Eddie has been shot in the line of fire while on duty. Laura, Steve, Carl, and Harriette rush to the hospital. (Myra, Maxine, Waldo, and Danica each visit but leave shortly after). Laura feels obligated to call and inform Brooke, who immediately drops everything and gets to the hospital to be with Eddie. Brooke and Laura share a heart-to-heart, after Brooke realizes it took alot of Laura to call her and that meant something to her.
