I was reading the post on Clarence Roberts and it was noted how LIFETIME hasn't aired that episode in a long time. Here are some thoughts and questions I've jotted down - If anyone has anything to contribute by all means please do

This is one of the true mysteries of LIFETIME. They seem to air their episodes in some sort of weird rotation and over the past two years they have basically repeated the same stretch of episodes from start to finish and then they begin again.

Most of these episodes come from the years 1990-1994, but I've also seen a few episodes from 1989 scattered in along with the two Stack specials that they air from 1987.

However they haven't aired their "block" of 1988 episodes since April of 2005 which if you look at the episode guide includes the following shows:

October 12, 1988
October 26, 1988
November 2, 1988
November 9, 1988
December 14, 1988
January 4, 1989

Those six episodes (some heavily re-editted by "Lifetime") have not been aired since April of 2005.

Also there are quite a few episodes of UM which have been MIA the past few years and were not broadcast at all while I was trying to compile my "Unsurpassed Mysteries" videos in 2005. Does anyone know if UM has broadcasted any of these over the past year or so:

"Lifetime Edit of November 23, 1988" - The "Lifetime" edit of this I believe omits the Kurt Sova segment as well as a segment on Exotrtion in Lancaster, Californina and adds the Matthew Chase segment which was not part of the original broadcast.

"Lifetime Edit of January 18, 1989" - The "Lifetime" edit of this omits Jeremy Bright (which is part of another episode entirely) as well as a segment on Rogest Caine.

"March 15, 1989" (This is the episode which features the Lisa Marie Kimmell case. It was broadcasted at some point because I have a copy of it on tape prior to the case being solved. I believe Sheila Kimmell mentioned on these boards that she asked "Unsolved Mysteries" to either update the case or stop showing it. They did update the case but as part of one of their 2001/2002 re-edits. I have not seen the segment aired in its original format in a long time - Also included in this episode I believe was a case of a strange Louisiana couple who committed murder many years ago. Their daughter was interviewed on the segment and believed her parents were guilty)


Various segments from 1988/1989 broadcasted on "Lifetime" in the past but not recently:

Segments detail a U.S. airman’s claim of a frightening encounter with a UFO on Cape Cod in the 1960’s, and include a discussion of genetic experimentation said to involve non-Earthlings. (This I believe is the case of a black US airman who was abducted at a phone booth while trying to get in contact with his base. He said he experienced "Lost time")

Segment on a murdered Texas woman whose life insurance policy is the source of a family dispute (This is a believe the case of Jean Tovera)

Michael Wade Mohan (Bank Robber - Identified by Justin as the segment featuring a helicopter chase)

Segment on a young ballet dancer who drowned and had a life after death experience. Segment also included a man whose car collasped on him and he had a similar experience. One notable quote he made was "I don't care if you believe me or not, thats fine - this really happened"

"Lost Loves" segment on I believe three children now grown who had an abusive childhood. In the segment the visited their childhood home. The point of the segment was they were looking for another sibling I believe.

Maria Armstrong (Mentally disturbed woman murders her boyfriend and then vanishes to an Indian reservation)

Well I cant give specifics, but I have noticed how Lifetime has the rotation. They will air new episodes a lot and then suddenly for a couple weeks will air old ones. Also on the new episodes some of them are edited to actually include segments from the 80's and early 90's on them, some of the ones that were unsolved and updates of others. In my view lifetime just trashed this show. That is just my opinion. I will still watch it whenever I can because I love the show so much but there is no question it had been going downhill for sometime. I would say probably around 1994, 1995 is when it started going downhill and it was still on NBC at that time.

That was the same as Prime TV, until they changed their station name and stopped airing UM altogether. Prime just showed the newer ones and you'd receive the occasional older one. That's what I didn't like about the Prime airings, is that they just abandoned the older episodes.

In my mind, and this is just my opinion, the older ones were classier from the music to the name labels on the interviewees. And, Prime would have a sort of recycling rotation thing going on, as well with the same newer episodes showing again in a two to maybe three month loop. That was the rotation.

Just my opinion, tho.

Lifetime split this into two episodes.

One episode has: Kurt Sova, Lancaster update, and the rock of good fortune (all from 11/23/88 except Lancaster update, though the original story pre-update aired on this date) and adds Steven Cox and the Carlucci segment from special 7.

The second episode has: murdered New Mexico priests (from 11/23/88), Matthew Chase, Mike Reemer, and a story about a Spanish woman who was looking for her biological mother (sorry, I don't keep track of the names on Lost Loves).

Are you sure Jeremy Bright didn't air on this date? If not, when did it air? I don't think Rogest Cain aired on this date either. Rather, it was the story of the Garrecht abduction. I think the Lifetime version is pretty close to what aired on NBC.

I have both versions of the Kimmel story on tape - before and after update. Actually, Lifetime deletes the story about the Louisiana couple from their version of 3/15/89, and adds in the two parter about life after death (from 2/22/89). The Louisiana couple story has been aired on Lifetime, but tacked onto another episode (I can't remember what other stories were shown during that particular episode, but I know I've seen it).

I think you're confusing the quote with the Allagash abduction case.

I've noticed this and would much prefer the series to be aired in chronological order. Most anything from 1997 on I don't tend to be interested in anyhow.

Well Justin, some people do care about the Lost Loves segments. Are they among my favorites? Usually not, but they are nice to see sometimes and I feel they balance out the show and can put a positive spin on what otherwise tends to be mostly sad murder mysteries. I like the murder mysteries because they are intriguing but it is nice to have something positive in the show too. Just my opinion.

Although I don't believe I confused the allagash case with the life after death segment as they both contain similar quotes. The case of the man whose car fell on top of him also opened with him playing football with his kids and was bundled together with the ballet dancer who drowned.

You might be right. I guess the life after death segment wasn't that memorable for me. I remember quite vividly one of the Allagash guys using a similar closing remark during the interview about his experience. I always thought it was a cool line.

All of these episodes aired on Lifetime in November 2005.

What I wonder is when did the Mike Reemer case and the Dolores Valadez segments originally air?

Can anyone validate that the November 23, 1988 episode had the following cases: Kurt Sova, Matthew Chase, the murdered priests, the lucky rock

There is an error in the episode guide for that one as I have the NBC airing for that date. Instead of the Matthew Chase case they aired the Lancaster, California Extortion segment. My guess is that they were very anxious to air the Extortion case in hopes for some new leads and pulled the Matthew Chase segment at the last minute. I have the NBC episode from 8/23/89 and it has the Matthew Chase segment as well as the Deloros Validez segment although I'm not sure if that is the original airdate for both.
