D.J.'s boyfriend Steve really annoyed the hell out of me and I thought her other boyfriend Viper was such a dork.

The biggest problem was they didn't develop Steve as well - he needed to be a bit more three-dimensional. We know he was a nice, friendly jock who didn't get into college but who ate a lot. It was more then a caricature, but not much more. That's what bothered me about him. But, he wasn't too bad.

I think the twins idea was an experiment they tried and failed at. I always thought if they wanted to have kathy Santoni pregnant, it would have made a great story arc for J&B to have only one kid or none (though they could and maybe should have done this with N&A there), and for J&B to then adopt Kathy's baby. Lots of poignant scenes and episodes you could have with that story arc, it would still be "Full House"'s sweet, loving, wholesome stuff, though. (Alternatively, even if they think about if but Kathy doesn't give her baby up for adoption, just so they then show her 1-2 more times.)

I know, that would have been showing more characters, too, but at least it would have been more interesting. And, it would have let them move down the street with more kids, if N&A are thre, too, and Jesse would still be married to Becky and all, but his charactger would sort of fade out if John didn't want to do it anymore. (Say, Teddy's house was still up for sale because of a depressed housing market or something.)

Actually, what they should have done w/J&B is have their first child be Melina. That way, they could do an adoption episode , MK&A could be split apart at the start of season 6, or even in season 5, and you could have some very poignant episodes that way. I think that's what the writers thought about back in "Greek Week,' because otherwise, there would be no reason for Jesse to be a godparent thousands of miles away; and since his cousin wasn't there, Melina was probably cared for by Papouli at that point, becasue she sure doesn't seem like she misses her folks.

They had plans to use Melina, I think, if and when they separated the Olsen Twins. It just never happened. (I wrote a series of Melina stories on fanfiction.net, under the pen name "Me")

I thought Steve was a great and funny character. The best out of all the boyfriends DJ had. It was great when he beat the crap out of Danny when they wrestled. That was a TV dad who rubbed me the wrong way and could not stand especially his excessive rambling. He needed to be pop in the mouth each time he rambled on and on. To me Danny Tanner was not a likable character and each season he got worse.

I think the problem with the twins was simply that the producers hired quite possibly the worst twin actors in the history of modern television. They couldn't piece together a sentence during their entire tenure on the show. The Olsen twins were remarkably better actors at that age.

It's apparent they tried to have lightening strike twice with twin stars, and it flopped badly.

I have much more sympathy for him from a psychological standpoint, losing his wife like he did and possibly suffering some some obsession that was made worse by that stress.

However, he did need D.J. to do more than force him to start punishing Michelle; he needed her to force him to go get grief counseling. It took some convincing from Jesse and Joey to get Steph in to talk to someone after the trauma of the earthquake (something kids do need at times after such a disaster.) It's easy to see how they couldn't have forced him to seek help for himself, he didn't want it to look like he had a problem. But, I think his girls could have combined to get him to do it.

It's just a shame they showed his struggles but not the pressures of the older girls having to raise Michelle like happens with some; that would have been something no other show has done that I know of, though of course there have been kids who struggle after both parents die.

That would had made a potential good storyline to explore in getting Danny and the girls for grief counseling to show families healthy ways of dealing with loss. I was 7 when I lost my mom and 25 when my dad passed away and with grief counseling one learns healthier ways of coping and grieving. With Full House being a family show that would had educate the families and still made it entertaining if that was explored.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Yes, in a way, one could almost argue D.J. was an enabler by always disciplining Michelle herself at times - and, some argue, Steph also helping to discipline her - but, in a way that was necessary at 2 and 3 to lay the foundation for Michelle having far fewer troubles later. Look at all the good episodes in those seasons and later, and you can tell someone had to.

In the Chronology there's mention of D.J.'s Junior High guidance counselor telling her she might have to force him to start disciplining Michelle - perhaps because that guidance counselor suspects that 'enabling." That would have made a good scene for that episode.

The problem is, without counseling, Danny just falls apart, as you say. Someone had to scold Michelle loudly and remove quite a few privileges after those samples to get Michelle to be in control enough not to go after the wedding cake, but to reach out to it gingerly, like she knows there'll be trouble if she goes wild. And, the way Danny was there, you can bet that was D.J.. (Actually, Steph's silence sort of shows it was still D.J. at this point doing most of the work, though later, who knows.) And, later with her not coming down for school and the dinosaur and Disneyworld, well...

I think the thing to do would have been to show that Danny tried to do it by himself but failed in season 6, probably becasue being with Vicki made him think about Pam again. And, to start season 7 with D.J. as Michelle's boss for 3 weeks at camp, but also with some episodes that focused on Danny and the girls finally getting some counseling for the problems.

In fact, I wonder if season 8's thing with the concert tickets wasn't a cry for for attention from michelle. Perhaps she was scared D.J. would move out and needed to show, somehow, that she needed to have her there doing stuff with her.

It's interesting that in the books, there's no hint of any problem, but D.J. has been the one Michelle and Steph take after - no attitude problems, girls much more in control, etc.. The Chronology mentions Danny talking with the pastor of their church about problems about a dozen times, and i suspect that makes sense, that he got counseling early for his problems.

I really didn't have a problem with any of the characters. I loved Steve, but he was probably one of the dorkiest jocks I had ever seen on a TV show. Something about his voice I think.

Here's an example of a time I didn't like what Danny said. In the episode where DJ's cousin Steve came to visit (her brother, Kirk Cameron), DJ got upset when Danny was spending a lot of time with him doing 'guy things'. He then reminded DJ that "Steve's father moved out last year". HELLO....at least his father is still living. DJ's mother just DIED last year!!!
