I assume you're talking about the Ultimate Collection. Yes it is strange its no longer on Amazon but I found it is for sale a few other places:

My best guess is that First Look placed what they call a "mortitorium" on the Boxed Set... which means that they only produce a certain number for a certain amount of time... then the set goes back "into the vault," so to speak.
I tried to buy the "Chosen" collection of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer recently and came across this problem. You can't find the boxed sets at Amazon anymore, but you could probably find it on eBay... for a slight increase in price, I'm sure... |

For The 'Ultimate Collection', you may want to try tvlineupdvds.com.....they are a seller w/ebay. That's where I got both The 'Ultimate Collection' and the 'Best of'. Ships fast....easy to do business with.
Just a suggestion.....here's the link: http://www.tvlineupdvds.com/servlet/StoreFront If they don't have it in stock, then you might want to try emailing them, they might get it. Cheers |

After having paid as much as $50 plus tax for some of the sets (I own all 6, and then subsequently purcahsed the best of set), I was down right irritated when the ultimate collection came out at the price that it did, meaning in the long run, I could have paid alot less. Also missed out on that nifty treasure chest, darn. Oh well, that would have taken up too much space anyways. I can't blame them too much I guess. They might have had a lot of sets left over, and this might have been a halfway decent way to get rid of the excess.
I ran into a similar fate with another one of my favorite shows, the Twilight Zone. I had paid $100 for on the of the collections online (through either Amazon or Barnes & Noble can't remember which), only to find it at Wal-Mart a couple months later for under $45. OUCH! |

I could only get the Ultimate collection from Bestbuy.com. I tried to get it sent to our local store but they were VERY Snotty about it. My theory is the treasure sets weren't sold at many stores because the sets tanked out. Hmmm. Maybe this is a new unsolved mystery.
![]() Which Twilight Zones were at Wal*Mart though? The older versions or the new releases with the extra features? Didn't First Look do these too? Yet another DVD season sets series on my to buy list....By the way, how was the 80's Twilight Zone series? |

I am a Twilight Zone aficionado and I must say that the Definitive Editions are the only way to go when purchasing this series. The prints are a much higher quality and the special feaures are quite plentiful. Well worth the money.

I apologize in advance for getting off topic, but I've got to respond to SpecialEd and Dislimb. For future reference, there is a Twilight Zone forum in the Drama/Dramedies section here on Sitcoms Online. All fellow Twilight Zone fans please feel free to join me there as I post there as well, in addition to UM. I'll post this, and then let's try to get back to Unsolved Mysteries.
SpecialEd: Wal-Mart used to carry the collections of the Rod Serling series (which featured episodes from all seasons). I picked up collection 2 there, and I know they stocked collection 3 there, and possibly collection 1 as well. I have not seen any lately though. I believed they have stopped carrying them, and they seem to have an unusual stocking pattern regarding this series. They did not stock the individual seasons. They also have or used to have the 2002/2003 version, which featured all episodes (it lasted only one season.) Looking at my dvds of the Serling TZ, it says it was put out by CBS dvd/Image entertainment. I plan on getting the 80's version, which has been put out on 2 sets which span the 3 seasons. I have not seen these episodes yet though, so I couldn't tell you much about it. P.S. I have encountered problems at Best Buy as well, and I'm sure a lot of people have. I could go off on a tangent, but I'll just simply say its one of my least favorite stores. DisLimb: You are totally right. I bought the collections, but that was before I knew they were going to put out the season by season sets, so I was a little irritated when they did. I was even more irritated today when I found out they were going to release the complete collection: all episodes for a fractions of the cost of the individual sets. Arrgh! Also, the collections that I bought have next to no extras. So, you did very well to get the season sets. |
