Default My Idol Tour recap (8/5/06 in Sunrise, FL)

Hey guys ... I never talk about it much but I'm a huge AI fan.

Anyway, the tour came to Sunrise, Florida last night. First off, the seats were terrible (i'll explain later) because I wasn't really giving much thought to them when I was ordering -- it was selling quick and I just wanted tickets so we ended up in section 403, row 16 We were up freaking HIGH. But we actually had an awesome view of the stage, believe it or not.

Anyway, since Kat was my favorite I was extremely happy she was there, even with a broken foot. Unfortunately (kind of --- sorry fans) Kellie Pickler has lost her voice and is on bed-rest so she couldn't perform.

So, I got there about 6:30 and of course had to get sounveniers (Kat and Taylor buttons, a hat, a keychain, and a freaking waste of money $20 program (but it had awesome pictures)... anyway, the line was long but it went as fast as could be expected. We got waited on around 10 after 7, but luckily it wasn't supposed to start until :15 after 7. We hurried up the escalator to the FOURTH floor and took our seats. It started with the themesong playing of course. Mandisa came out (to large applause) and sang "I'm Every Woman" (which got a huge ovation) and chatted for a good five minutes with the audience about God and stuff, LOL. Then she sang I think two more songs. I loved Mandisa but I couldn't remember the other two songs she sang, LOL. Then Ace came out and sang a song together with Mandisa that rocked. Ace then went into "Father Figure" and the Maroon 5 song. Then a rocker song. He was actually much better than I remember. Then Lisa Tucker came out. She was very good and sang three songs as well: "Signed, Sealed, Delievered" "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" and something else. I couldn't get over how much better she sounded live. Lisa then talked to audience trying to figure out which section was the loudest. She unfortunately didn't get a lot of cheers... Then Paris came out and they sang "Waterfalls" by TLC together. They were good together. Lisa left and Paris sang "Midnight Train to Georgia" and got a huge ovation. She went down to the front row with the audience for a few minutes. Then she sang "Crazy in Love" and did a ton of really good dancing. She sang another song that I cannot remember. After that, Bucky came out and sang "Superstition" and some other songs I couldn't even make out. He was good too. After he finished, he announced Kellie couldn't talk but Kellie did come out to HUGE cheers and "awws" to wave to the audience. He joked that they all liked it that Kellie couldn't talk. Bucky then announced a 30 minute intermission that NO ONE was thrilled about.

After the long-ass break, Chris came out to screeching screams. It was unbelievable. I wish I could say he rocked the house down, and he was good, but frankly, the music drowned him out, at least where I was sitting. I was able to hear the lyrics to "Wanted: Dead or Alive" and he did really good with that. He too went down to the fan area. After he was done with his songs, Elliot came out and they sang together. They went well together. Elliot also got a HUGE round of applause. Chris left and Elliot went into his songs, and again, he either mumbled or the music drowned him out. After he was done, Katharine kneeled onstage to HUGE applause and broke into "Black Horse & the Cherry Tree" which didn't sound that great because she was limping and clearly in pain. After that she announced due to doctors orders she was going to sing just one more song and it was "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." And wow, to hear it live ... she was absolutely fantastic. And in front of me this old bitch was dissing Kat and even she had to admit Katharine was fantastic. Katharine left and Taylor came out to the most applause I've ever heard. He really is an awesome performer and I enjoyed his and Kat's songs the most. Taylor sang four songs. He took a weird long break before "Do I Make You Proud" to change clothes ... lol. After that Ace, Mandisa, Lisa, Paris, Bucky, Chris and Elliot broke into "We Are The Champions" and they were fantastic together. Then Katharine and Taylor joined them for "Living in the USA".

It was awesome. After that we went to the parking area in the back for the press/etc. and we saw the six buses for the Idols. By the time we got down there and to there, it was about a half hour after the show was over so most of them were probably already on the bus. But we did catch Kellie and she stopped and waved. We think Lisa came out last but it was somewhat far away and we couldn't tell. No one said anything to her, LOL, if it was her.

Overall an awesome experience.
