LOS ANGELES -- There will be a "Daily Show" reunion on the set of "The Office" this fall, as Ed Helms joins the show in a recurring part opposite former "Daily" correspondent Steve Carell.
Helms will be one of three new faces at Dunder Mifflin in the coming season. Rashida Jones and Chip Esten have also been cast in recurring roles on the Emmy-nominated NBC series. "We are Ed Helms groupies here at the studio," Angela Bromstad, president of "Office" producer NBC Universal TV, tells The Hollywood Reporter. "We see Ed as the perfect fit for the role [executive producer] Greg Daniels has created in 'The Office.'" Helms will play an employee of the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin run by Michael Scott (Carell). He's been a "Daily Show" correspondent since 2002, working with Carell for the first three of those years. Helms will also co-star with Carell in the feature film "Evan Almighty," due next year. Esten ("Whose Line Is It Anyway?," "Party of Five") will play Josh Porter, the manager of another Dunder Mifflin office. He guest-starred in the "Valentine's Day" episode of the show last season. Jones, the daughter of music legend Quincy Jones, will be playing another Scranton-branch worker. Her credits include "Boston Public," TNT's "Wanted" and the feature "Little Black Book." |

They're adding characters already? I have a bad feeling about this.

"already"? I half expected this by season three, at least.
It's the natural flow of story progression. Anyway, it's not like many of those characters will be permanent fixtures, returning each and every week. Plus, it expands their world bit more. I think it's a good thing. |

I totally forgot i made that post above, and i tak it back!
I for one am glad about the new additions to the cast. Ed Helms is great, and Rashinda Jones is very funny. i hope she sticks around too, but i sense things aren't going to turn out so well with Karen and Jim. |
