'Lost' Tribe Keeps Growing - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Chalk up another addition to the "Lost" cast for next season: actress Elizabeth Mitchell.

Mitchell will be playing a character named Juliet on the ABC series. There's precious little else to know about the character at the moment, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, she may be a new love interest for Matthew Fox's Jack.

Of course, last season ended with Jack being held captive by the Others, which, one could theorize, might mean that Mitchell will be playing one of the folks from the other side of the island. Or, given the show's frequent plot swerves, not.

Mitchell is the second new addition to the cast this week. ABC previously announced that Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro will also be a regular next season.

"Lost" will be Mitchell's first role as a series regular since "The Lyon's Den," which had a brief run on NBC in the fall of 2003. Her other small-screen credits include the ESPN movie "3: The Dale Earnhardt Story," a recurring part on "ER" and guest shots on "Everwood" and "Boston Legal."

Among her film roles are "The Santa Clause 2" and the upcoming "Santa Clause 3" and this year's "Running Scared."

How do they keep getting new people on the island?
Does a new plane crash there before every season premiere?

What they do is that they only feature about a dozen people, while the other people who were on the plane remain in the background. They don't have speaking roles, but we can see them. As people die, they'll bring them forward.

Also, new cast members came on when it was discovered that the plane broke apart. The back part crashed on another part of the island, so those people finally met up in the second season.

Then there's the "Others", a large group of people who have been there for years. Now, those folks are creepy.

We see other people through flashbacks, when people stranded on the island think back about their lives.

Another guy was found in an underground bunker. The writers are very creative.

I see. And have they figured out a way to make a car out of bamboo like the castaways did on "Gilligan's Island?"
