Question Do you proofread your posts??

I always proofread mine. Sometimes I'll even do it 3 or 4 times before posting, just because I don't want to sound like a total fool. Iv'e actually been known to give up on threads or posts that Iv'e worked very hard on, just because I wasn't able to get the words exactly right. Iv'e probably had hundreds of posts that I just gave up on, because I feared making a total jackass of myself. Anyone else here obsessively proofread, or edit their messages, or am I alone on this??

LOL. For someone who proof-reads their posts, your punctuation sure stinks...I'm teasing you, but it's I'VE and not "Iv'e" like you wrote a few times.

Anyway, no, I can't be bothered to proof-read before posting.

Oh my gosh, how embarrassing!! See, that's the very reason I've given up on so many posts, so I would avoid situations like this. It's so weird, (I did get it's right didn't I?? ) Anyway, it's so weird because I've always done I've that way, and was never told it was incorrect. I guess you learn something new everyday. Anyways, thanks for making me look like a fool. Just kidding, thanks for the correction!!

I always proofread my posts! I'm just anal like that! I pretty much proofread everything by force of habit! So once again Brad, you are NOT alone! Trust me!

That's okay. You're not a fool at all. So you make a few spelling or grammar errors...no big deal...I do it myself sometimes...nobody's perfect and this isn't a spelling bee!
I just can't be bothered to proof-read my posts. I guess I'm lazy that way. I'm sure I've made some typos, too!
Anyway, I hope you're not too mad that I pointed out that it's I'VE and not "Iv'e."

Exclamation

Being a part-time English teacher and writer, I try to always proofread my posts before posting them, and if I see a mistake in spelling or grammar after posting, I always hit the Edit button as quickly as I can!

I do that too. I like to edit quick, because I hate it when it says last edited on: at the bottom of the post. For some reason, I just don't like the way my posts look when it says that.

I'm glad you're not mad, Little Mel. Sorry if it seemed like I was nit-picking! I just notice stuff and I got a big mouth!
Anyway, I love your avatar. Archie Bunker looks so cute in it. Archie is one of my favorites.

Just as some of you have already mentioned, I try and catch any misspellings/grammar mistakes before I hit the "Edit" button. Sometimes I just have some quick time to read new replies in threads but not enough time to reply. In that case, I will decide to reply later when I have more time. I'd rather take my time out so the grammar/spelling is correct over just writing sloppily.

It's not only with the grammar/spelling, but it's also conveying what I want to say from my thoughts. I tend to edit quite often after I post an original message because I want to clarify or add to something. I try and do it immediately because I hate to see the "Edited by swedeace at so-and-so time" stamped at the bottom of my message after the 20-30 minutes leeway mark. Thank goodness this place gives quite some time. I frequent another forum that gives a two-minute leeway, and I hate that because I have an issue with the time stamp thing. Makes me feel very disorganized when I read the "Edited by..." stamp at the bottom of my posts. *cringes*

I can't help it, but it's a pet peeve of mine to feel like correcting others whenever I read other poster's non-usage of apostrophes like "Im", "Ive", "dont", etc. Gosh, it was difficult for me to write out these words because I had to think twice to leave them "as is" instead of correcting them. I've seen it with a couple of people, but in the end, that's just me. Sorry. It's one of those obsessive personal things of mine. I'm so nitpicky. The online world is pretty informal, anyway.

Most of the time I do. But sometimes, like now, I'm just too lazy to do it.
