I'm sorry to post about daily episodes, but at the very beginning of today's episode about Laura taking the pills when she meets Rob's parents...the scene where Sally lies on the sofa and Buddy tells her that her head is in the ashtray..two questions:
1. What does Buddy say to Rob right before he starts the story? 2. Do you think the part where Buddy tells Sally her head is in the ashtray and her response...that seems all adlibed to me? MTM really did some great job in this episode. |

Well, after Buddy informs Sally that her head is in the ashtray, he asks her to please move up and then he says, "Put it here, it'll be worse," and Sally responds by saying, "No wonder it felt good."
And yes, I noticed while I was watching this episode that this particular part seemed very improved. I was thinking that maybe Rose Marie just laid her head down in the ashtray by the accident and they sort of played it off from there. Mary Tyler Moore did do a very good job in this episode. She was really funny. |

Oliver: I'd take a seed, a tiny little seed, I'd plant it in the ground, I'd put some dirt on it, I'd water it, and pretty soon, do you know what I would have? Lisa: A dirty little wet seed. |

This is one of my favorite epidsodes also. It showcases Mary's comedic talents very well. To think how young and relatively inexperienced she still was in show business, and to see her in that, "...and one for Moo Moo," scene!
I'm not sure if anyone would agree with me on this, but didn't it seem that Mary lost that comic ability after leaving that wonderful universe of TDVDS? Steve |

Oh God, the 'and one for moo moo' and 'no no-you have your own' lines used to fracture me. She was brilliant, and it seemed so spontaneous...

I love the "No, you have your own!" line! MTM did great in this episode. Also in The Curious Thing About Women (I got my email address from this one) and my personal favorite...A Long Nights Journey Into Day.
I also love when Rob comes in and kisses Laura with the pins sticking out of her mouth. That was so cute and something only adorable Rob would do!!! ![]() SawgrassSteve: I think MTM was still great on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. The bathtub scene in "Mary's Insomnia" cracks me up EVERY time!!!
