I remember it, and I remember not liking it because it was too different from the show itself. I really missed Majors Nelson and Healey. At the time, I was in high school, but had they included the regulars, I would have watched that show.
However, if Sony would choose to give me a few of the old cartoons as an extra in one of the DVD releases, or even release them separately, I would take them. Maybe I'd like them better now - Donna at http://www.geocities.com/jeanniesisters/ (An IDOJ website) |

I only saw one episode (as part of the syndicated package FRED FLINTSTONE &
FRIENDS). Former Stooge Joe Besser voiced Babu. |

....it could have been better, but the animated Jeannie is almost as sexy-looking as the "real" one! Babu's catch-phrase was "Yapple Dapple!!". Joe Besser got a lot of mileage out of that in his voice tracks, as good "comedy relief sidekicks" often do. And let's not forget that Mark Hamill was "Corry" in virtually his first professional acting role....and he's still doing voice-over work today! Julie McWhirter [Dees] wasn't bad as "Jeannie", either.
I believe SONY (who controls Columbia and its "Screen Gems" TV library) still owns the rights to the animated series, which is why, except for those repackaged segments on "FRED FLINTSTONE & FRIENDS" in the late '70s, the cartoon version has rarely been shown in the United States. Only 16 episodes were produced, despite the fact that it was CBS' highest rated Saturday cartoon show in 1973-'74.
