no all you do is put a disc in the top drive and a blank in the bottom drive and push the button, its that simple some units offer hard drives, and it will take the place of an original, and actualy speed the process a bit the hard drive is sectioned off into 5 gig partitions and each dvd is loaded into it, to be recalled at any time but the hard drive only holds a limited amount of discs even a 300 gig drive only hold 60 partitions at 5 gig per so you would be limited to 60 discs avaible to copy some also have a usb port to connect directly to your pc, that works much the same as an internal hard drive, this way your useing the pc hard drive the advantage of a hard drive is, some discs just arent going to read in the duplicator, due to whatever, and then some are going to get damaged in thr handling, scratch, or dropped, or even dog pes on them, the hard drive option will protect your discs i choose no hard drive, but i do have another copy of 90% of my original discs, just in case theres a handlinga ccindent, or i get confused and ship off my originals in a package |

if you want one cheap your best bet is to build one yourself, that's what I did.
I went to http://www.pricewatch.com bought the duplicator card DVD drives & I used an old computer case I had laying around. Cost me about $150 |

For $50 more you can buy one off ebay. I wouldn't have a clue how to build one from scratch. They sell 'em for $198 on ebay all ready to go.

Try megalynx on Ebay, I love my duplicator but it costs about 200 bucks.
