Default Aunt Agnes "Sayings"

During the series, Sally liked to quote the strange but funny sayings of her Aunt Agnes. I thought it would be fun to pass along the "knowledge" of Aunt Agnes by posting her sayings in this thread along with the episode they were in. Here's the first one:

Sally: "My Aunt Agnes was right! Do you know what she said when she saw Randy at the bowling alley? 'Sally, you can't tell a book if the title's covered.'"
Buddy: "I don't feel good. I'm beginning to understand Aunt Agnes."

Episode #24, The Twizzle

From episode #57, "Racy Tracy Rattigan":

"You may have the world at your feet, but that don't stop the corns from hurtin'."

This is a great thread....I just can't remember any Aunt Agnes quotes. How about an Aunt Agnes reference from "A Surprise is a Surprise is a Surprise":

"Are you kidding? My Aunt Agnes has a harder time gettin' a date than I do."

Sorry for straying a bit off-topic, but that quote reminds me that Sally wasn't the only one who had an aunt with that problem. I think it was in the episode "The Life and Love of Joe Coogan" where Buddy warns Sally about waiting too long before finding the right guy. He tells her about having an aunt who "waited so long for her ship to come in, her pier collapsed."

"As my Aunt Agnes always said, 'If two people say you are sick, lie down!' "

I thought it was Sally's mother who said that. Or maybe it was her mother who said something like: "Show me a person who speaks with a curly tongue, and I'll show you a bird that gathers feathers." All I remember for certain is that weird sayings seemed to run in Sally's family.

Yes, her mother did say that one. I remember it from A Word a Day.

I thought so. I think it was also Sally's mother who said: "The sun isn't always shining just because there are sparrows."

I like the Aunt Agnes Classic " Man is like snow, it falls and falls and pretty soon you cant get out of the house" I know that isnt exact but pretty close.

I think it's from Uncle George

"What's in a name? A cat by any other name still wouldn't smell like a rose."

Episode #36, What's in a Middle Name?

I've been away on vacation but I wanted to reply. You are probably right, Pentimento. Sally's mother probably did say that. It's still one of my favorite lines! Sally's mother and Aunt Agnes must have been sisters!
