Default Parents

Ok...I have an issue. I just need to vent a little bit and if any of you guys want to offer advice or whatever, feel free to.

Haven't seen my bf since Sunday because my parents limit the days he can come over and stuff (I'm 18 btw). He and his dad were gonna run out. He says he is gonna get me something to eat and drop it off (just to be a sweetie).
I get off the phone with him and tell my mom this so she doesn't freak out when she sees him pull up. I tell her about it and say he said he would only drop the food off and not come in. She freaks! And tells me to call straight back and tell him he better not do that. I was like why? She said it was stupid (I was like he's trying to be nice) and it doesn't look good. *?* That's so ********. I don't get it. I mean, mom really likes my bf so that's so weird.

What's up with that?!

--It's been a little while since I've been to the boards and posted. So hey to everyone that remembers me.
Also, if anyone else want to vent or talk about their parent issue...we can make this the thread to do it in if ya want.

How old is the boyfriend? Do the parents have any reason to dislike him or is it just paranioa?

I am 13 years older than my little sister and let me tell you her boyfriends used to get roasted until they passed the test with me.

Sounds like the parents might just be being over protective.

That's strange if she likes him that she won't let him in the house. Like she's hiding something. Or afraid that you guys are gonna "do something."

I dunno. They like him. He's a couple months younger than me. Both of us are 18. I understand why she didn't want him to come in. Because "it wasn't one of his regular days to come over." But I don't see the problem with him coming by, saying hey, and being nice and bringing me something to eat.

I do think you all have it right that they are overprotective. And yes, I do think they are paranoid.

On a different situation...but they keep treating me like a kid and won't let me do stuff because they are "protecting me and keeping me from making a bad decision."
Any ideas on how to get past this?
Thanks!

I just wanted to add this to the above...
I was talking to mom..and she says it 'looks bad' for him to be bringing me food here at home. Like I can't just eat something here.
But I still think that's stupid.

Just thought I'd add this since dad's home and he's put his 2 cents in.

He agrees with mom. *rolls eyes* They both say since his dad would be with him that wasn't good. *?* And they said it didn't look good, like he was bringing me something to eat when I could eat at home, and the thing about his dad both say that would look bad.
I think they are being a lil bit ******** about it all.
It really doesn't make sense and they are being way too up tight.

Pretty much.

Your mom might just be being a bit overprotective. But she needs to let go a little and learn to trust you more, even though it's hard for her. Maybe sitting down and talking to her about everything one day would help to clear things up. Just let her know that nothing will happen and if anything were to happen, she would know before hand. Maybe she'll be a little more relaxed when your boyfriend wants to bring you food (which is completely sweet and there is nothing wrong with that).

True...however, as long as you live under your parents roof, it's their rules, their house and what they say goes...if one doesn't like it, then they can move out.

Yep, that's pretty much the way they see it. And since I need them to help pay for college...I guess I'll be putting up with it for a while longer.

I just don't get it b/c it's stupid to say 'it looks bad to other people' and it looks bad because it's just me and mom at home and dad's at work so it looks bad because him and his dad stopped by for like 2 secs.

Thanks for listening to me vent. lol
