I just found out that Tina Fey will be leaving SNL. Does anybody know who will be replacing her on the WU desk?

...that once Tina's series, "30 ROCK", was a "go" for the fall season, she wouldn't have time for "SNL". I don't think Lorne Michaels realized this until about, oh, two or three days ago. Perhaps he was hoping she might continue to contribute some of her writing and performing talents....until she told him "I'm leaving, and that's final"...or something like that.
So far, NO word on her replacement- either as head writer or anchor on "Weekend Update"- yet, 'Brian'. And look for more cast departures as well.

What they really need is to overhaul their writing team. The sketches have been pretty weak the last couple of years.

i kind of agree i dont think all the critisim of tina fey as head writer is warranted but on the other hand a new writing staff could bring a new energy that has been lacking lateley

....this happens every five years or so. Lorne Michaels KNOWS the show has to be "freshened up" a bit with new writers and talent, and makes his decisions on what the changes should be, "by the seat of his pants". Sometimes, the changes are fantastically successful...yet other times, you get the standard "What has happened to 'SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE'??" response from viewers and critics alike. Let's face it, if it weren't for Andy Samberg's "SNL Digital Shorts", there wouldn't have been ANY "buzz" for the show at all this season. When these short films get more attention than the other portions of the show itself....however, Lorne's eye for new talent hasn't been wrong yet. It's just getting the right mix of new talent and writers working in tandem that's tricky!
{I STILL miss T. Sean Shannon's "Bear City" segments!!!}
