Question Ever worry about your collection being stolen?

This is the thought that wakes me up in the middle of the night...

Recently, there have been a number of burglaries in my neighborhood. As a result, one of my greatest fears is that someone may break into my house and steal my collection. I suppose I didn't worry so much when the majority of my movies/shows were on VHS. After all, who would steal 1500 VHS tapes? It would be a truckload. But, now that most of my good stuff is on DVDR and in books, it would be a piece of cake for someone to grab those books and make off with about a third of my collection. I couldn't possibly put a dollar value on my collection, but I know for a fact that a lot of the discs I have are irreplaceable. Basically, movies and shows I could NEVER get again. Not to mention all the time I've spent painstakingly converting every tape to disc. Those of you who have traded with me know what a perfectionist I am and know that I don't just copy everything over on some crappy homedeck. I put a lot of time and care into each and every project. Hell, I don't even own a homedeck. But I digress...

Anyone else ever had similar fear/concerns or actually had their collection lifted?

There is no robberies in my neighborhood I guess that's why the rent is so high. So I never worry about anything thing like that

I think a robber would me more focused on TV"s and DVD Players and Stereo than VHS tapes and DVD's

You really don't think they would take a book of mainstream/burned DVDRs and Xbox games...

Make backup copies of your most prized discs and keep them in a safety deposit box at your bank. It's fairly inexpensive when you consider the peace of mind it will provide you.

LOL it's not that crazy. I sometimes imagine if say my house caught on fire, and my dvd collection...destroyed. That'd be pretty horrible. I mean sure, there are more valuable things in my home that I should be worried about, but my DVD colletion is still pretty high up there (sad?)

No, I keep them at a friend's house who lives in a high-rent district. Nobody ever gets robbed in a high-rent disctrict. Criminals don't target the rich.-lol

It would serve them right to steal my collection. It was a real B---CH, to get them up the stairs in our house and just about did me in!

Occasionally because I am in a basement suite and the dvd binders are easy to grab. Uninsurable too.

i live in about the lowest crime area in the country

we hardly ever lock our door, and i leave the keys in the cars and motorcycles all the time

so im not very worried about that

im more comcerned with fire or tornado

i have the original of every disc i own, at a friends house just in case

the rest of the crap is easy to replace with insurance money

so i wouldnt loose anything with either fire or wind or theft
