Default Unsolved Mysteries DVD Segment Question

Hi,

Does anyone happen to know about what UFO, Ghost, and Strange Legend segments aren’t on DVD? I have the box set with all 6 sets and I remember a UFO story about a crash where there were bodies retrieved and they had skin like a cat. I remember the footage shown for that statement was a surgeon working on them in silhouette in a tent. (We say him in silhouette from the light inside the tent. I also remember a Loch Ness Monster segment but it’s not here either. This is why I wondered what segments in these categories are not included? I remember another segment about a guy who found gold bars in a mountain and left to come back later only to never find his way back again. Not here either. Am I really remembering these segments or maybe I have the shows mixed up?

What segments are on the Best Of box set that came out too? I wondered if there is anything I don’t have?

Are there any plans for further Unsolved Mysteries box sets beyond what’s been released?

Thanks,

- Ed

I don't have all the UM DVDs. So I'd say that you have to do some research on the matter. If you can't find a particular segment in any of the DVDs, then that means it's completely unavailable on DVD.

As for future UM DVDs, you might want to contact First Look and ask them, since they are the distributors of the DVD sets. Their contact info is available at their web site (flp.com).

Hope this helps.

SpecialEd,

If you do a search on this UM forum, you will probably find a thread I started a while back that's called "cast your votes for favorite segments not on dvd's." this will have some posts about various segments that you described that were not on the dvds. Off the top of my head, the Chupacabras one was not on the Strange Legends. Also, there was a second Bigfoot one that was not on there. But most baffling of all was the omissions of the Great Pyramids and the Loch Ness (as you mentioned), despite their being a picture of both of them on the DVD covers. There was also a Stonehedge segment in the early 90's I believe that wasn't on there. As for the ghosts, there were at least 4 or 5 that were not on the ghosts box set, but did make it on to the Best Of Collection. If you click on the Best of Link at the top of this page, it will take you to it's page on amazon.com. On that page there is currently a post by a reviewer who lists all the segments on that set. I do vaguely recall the story about the guy finding the gold in a mountain, only never to discover it again - so you're not crazy. As for future releases, the ones already released did not sell too well, so the odds of future releases could be better. But then again, the same thing was said before the release of the best of and ultimate collections, and those came out, so stranger things have happened. The next logical step would be season by season sets, as it has been talked about a lot on these forums, but Next Look currently has no plans for it. Thankfully, CrystalDawn - The moderator of this UM forum - has made her own collections of UM favorites available.

Hope this helps

Your UFO one doesn't sound too familiar, but from the sounds of it I sure as hell want to see it. Also, when you say "bodies with skin like a cat", are you sure you didn't mean to say "bodies that were skinned like a cat"?

The UFO and Loch Ness stories you are recalling are actually from the seventies series "In Search Of" hosted by Leonard Nimoy. I am positive of this because I vividly remember that tent scene as well. The footage in question was part of an episode titled "In Search Of UFO Coverups" and the episode briefly touched on the Roswell crash case. To add to the confusion, Unsolved Mysteries also did produce a story about Roswell during the second season, but alas, there was no scene in a tent. It is definently the "In Search Of" episode that you are thinking of.

The Loch Ness monster may have been on "In Search Of" too, but I'm 99% sure it's been on Unsolved as well.

To the best of my knowledge (which is quite extensive), Unsolved has never done a segment on Nessie. You're probably thinking of the story they did on Ogopogo in which they briefly touched on Nessie with regard to the boreal forest belt theory.

My alien sequence may have been In Search Of but it wasn't on Rosewell. This was another crash in a desert in Arizonia or Colorado maybe. It wasn't Rosewell though. I was really into Roswell when I was a kid and this one perked my interest back then because it was another crash with alien bodies. I"m not sure if it was In Search Of or UM for sure though because I remember the footage looking more recent than the grainy 70's In Search Of quality. By the way, is In Search Of on DVD? And yeah, I'm pretty sure they said the bodies had skin like a cat. They talked about it being leathery but like a cat's skin (I assume witout hair)

I've read on this forum that UM did Loch Ness 3 times. I remember for a fact they did it at least once because we hurried home from church on a Wed. night so I could watch it. That segment was about the cameras that too a photo of the flippers of a Nessie.

What's the Boreal Forest Theory?

So are all the Ghost segments out on DVD now? I was trying to determine how many UFO, Ghost, and Strange Legend segments were made as opposed to how many are on DVD. It would be nice if someone could compile a site list like that by subjects rather than episodes because it's so hard to wade through 13 years of segments to find what fans of a particular genre are looking for.

I wrote First Look but the emails bounced back.

And what's the story about this tiny statue that points to the existance of tiny people that was mentioned in another thread. That sounds interesting.

I recently got a DVD with a show on Biblical archeology and their SHroud of Turrin segment uses the same reinactment footage from UM! Isn't that interesting?

I went to Amazon.com but it's hard to compare what's on the BEst Of with what's on the Ultimate set. I just want to know what I"m missing to decide if I need to buy it. The unexplained stuff is what interests me the most. Everybody loves a good mystery and some of this stuff are the greatest mysteris ever.

Thanks,

- Ed

It was "In Search Of". UFO researcher Raymond Fowler conducted an interview with a retired military man who claimed to have seen the crash somewhere in a desert (the location was not even disclosed to those present). This was NOT the Roswell case (although the episode touched on that as well). In fact, I don't recall hearing about this case anywhere else aside from this man's account on "In Search Of".

I don't believe so. Some episodes were issued on VHS in the eary eighties, and re-issued again about ten years ago by a company called "Pyramid Media". I'm not sure if that company is still in business or if the tapes are still available. I think you could order individual episodes but the cost was $50 a tape or something outrageous like that.

Nope. UM has profiled 3 lake monsters: Ogopogo, Champ, and the Caddy monster. Again, Loch Ness has been mentioned in passing, but no segment has been devoted to it.

Which lake monster did they take picture of the flippers then? I"m sure that was Loch Ness. This would have airred between 88 and 93. Somewhere in that stretch. I am certain it was UM because it airred wed. and we hurried home from church to see it. Which segment did I see then? Elsewhere on this forum it was stated there were 3 Nessie segments in addition to the 3 othr lake monsters you mentioned. That's not true?

I googled Boreal Forest THeory but I just get a complex math problem. Can't you describe it in laymen's terms? I'm no genius here...
