What TV shows have you questioning whether a complete run actually exists. I've read about My Living Doll and how only 6 (some say 9) episodes exist. What about a show like Turnabout; is it possible that it has been lost forever?

I would bet Turnabout exists, based on the time it was done ('70s) and the fact that it was a filmed sitcom. I remember watching it when it aired - I was one among a very few, which is why it got cancelled - it got terrible ratings. I think it's been more lack of public interest than anything else that's kept that show off the radar.

I have started two threads on this topic in the past (read them here and here). I am still slowly working on a "master" list of television shows with episodes missing and presumed lost. I can tell you, however, that at least nine episodes of My Living Doll and one episode of Turnabout exist. I used to think that only one episode of The New People was still around but thankfully the entire series is archived at UCLA's Film & Television collection. And every episode of Coronet Blue exists at the Library of Congress (including the two unaired episodes).

I have a complete run of Coronet Blue, assembled from different sources, but it's not in a condition to trade yet (some episodes are on tape).
I've run searches at the UCLA Film Library web site, and the search only returns 1 episode of New People. |

Someday when I win the lottery I'm going to go down to UCLA and bribe an archivist to record all the lost treasures I've been wanting for years.

Hmm, maybe I'm mixing it up with That's Life, another show I'd love to track down that I haven't seen on anyone's list.
UCLA does have the full run of Hot L Baltimore, which I was greatly relieved to see. I'd hate to think of that series having been wiped. I wonder if it really is as good as i remember it being, though. |

I would really like to know if episodes exist of the following shows I have been trying to find:
SHIRLEY (Oct 26,1979-Jan.25,1980) NBC -with Shirley Jones Peter Barton, Patrick Wayne, Rosanna Arquette, Tracey Gold I have been trying now since 1984 to find episodes of this series and none seem to exist...someone must have recorded it from original airings (you would think)..the closest I have come is a Christmas compilation movie , but the quality is not great at all. Has this ever been syndicated? Where are all the episodes? THE PRUITTS OF SOUTHAMPTON (1967) Phyliss Diller Another tough show to find..even a complete episode guide has been difficult although I understand an old back issue of TV COLLECTOR featured a detailed episode guide (would love to get a copy of this). To the best of my knowledge no more than 4 or 5 episodes of this series seem to exist. PAUL LYNDE SHOW (1972-73) everyone seems to be looking for these same 3 episodes : 02 Whiz Kid Sizzles As Quiz Fizzles - aired Sept 20, 1972 03 No Nudes is Good Nudes - aired October 11, 1972 23 Barbara Goes Home to Mother - aired Feb 28, 1973 Do they exist? Does anyone have any info on these three shows? Thanks. |

In regards to THAT'S LIFE, I don't know if it's the same show you're referring to, but a series by that title has been airing recently on HDNet. You might want to check their website, just to make sure it's not the one you're after.

Well, I wrote a request e-mail to S'More Entertainment, which is working with the UCLA Archive on some projects (like Mr. Peepers) asking them to consider releasing both Coronet Blue and Hot L Baltimore. It would be great if they could put together a set with commentary by Norman Lear and James Cromwell while we still have them!

GF - I've seen episodes of Professional Father listed on various people's lists.
Fandor - Thanks for the head's up - alas, that is a series from the 1990s - I'm looking for a musical comedy series from the late '60s - I think it might have been broadcast live. Or videotape - definitely not film. |
